But the memes are somehow still worth it right gang
Gov. @gavinnewsom says he disagrees with Mayor @zohrankmamdani about the need for a wealth tax on billionaires, which he is “adamantly against” - says Dems are a “big tent party” with both views.

"In a just world, where the career of a political pundit was somehow tied to his ability to analyze politics, this would be an extinction-level event for these morons."
My latest newsletter is about how centrist pundits got the lessons of the 2024 election wrong, and how the politics of 2025 exposed them.
The Pundits Were All Wrong
The Republican collapse has exposed elite pundits as clueless

NEW: Gregory Bovino is exactly who E.B. White — author of 'Charlotte's Web' — warned us about.

DHS named its North Carolina anti-immigrant effort "Operation Charlotte's Web." In 1940, White wrote of the "smell" that "rises" from those who "adjust to fascism" over freedom.

Please stop using language that suggests that people with criminal records are appropriate targets for this administration's violence. One in three adults has a criminal record. Stop playing sacrifice games with fascists. Stop surrendering entire categories of people in your own mind.

The value of reading history is you know that in 1860 there were abolitionists who were so demoralized that they thought chattel slavery would be permanent. 5 years later those still alive had lived to see its end.

I am going to lose my mind if UC keeps calling moves like this a “natural next step” in this work rather than the truth that they’re bending to a racist, authoritarian regime that wants to resegregate this country
UC eliminates EDI department, creates Office of Culture and Inclusive Excellence - Daily Bruin

when we were celebrating, my 8-year-old nephew said, “he’s for free buses, if you didn’t know”
The core problem with this is that you can't assess the popularity of policies in a vacuum.

Very few people on the left were talking about free buses a year ago but once Zohran started talking about it, it became super popular. That's less about the idea and more about his charisma and credibility

Most of the power authoritarians have is freely given. We should not comply with them in advance.

Trump is far weaker than he looks. So is the GOP. We should draw them out, drain them at every opportunity, and fight for people’s wellbeing at every turn.

We have been sent here to fight for people.
AOC: I think there's two things that are happening at once: One, there absolutely is an unprecedented abuse of power, destruction of norms, erosion of our government and our democracy in order to prop up an authoritarian style of governance

However, they are weaker than they look…

I know it's hard to do but you have to tune out the constant & I mean constant torrent of criticisms on social media re: activism & organizing. If you don't, it can stop you from trying to do any activism or organizing. Most of the critics aren't doing any organizing themselves so keep trying things

it just keeps getting worse
I genuinely cannot believe that Ezra Klein said we should run pro-life candidates in Kansas, Ohio, and Missouri; three states that recently held abortion referendums where the pro-choice side won!

This vision of liberalism requires Black people to accept their humanity will always be a matter of “debate.”
This sets up an absurd standard where the only justification for criticizing Kirk is if he personally committed violence.

But the entire reason liberalism is under attack is the constant lies and endorsement of violence by prominent conservatives, not because they're doing it themselves!
