We've built our own text-to-speech system with an initial English language model we trained ourselves with fully open source data. It will be added to our App Store soon and then included in GrapheneOS as a default enabled TTS backend once some more improvements are made to it.

I play a lot of games without voice acting, and they work because they're built around this limitation. Pokemon ScarVi seem like they were made to have voice acting with the way the characters move and interact but it just doesn't?

I went to school with film students and I STILL only hear about Avatar when people say it had little societal impact. It obviously had some but the sequels being a decade late and all them being meh as movies does more to prove the little impact than anything else. The joke exists for a reason
