Dear @mark-carney.bsky.social, I believe most Canadians will agree that it is in Canada's best interests if you cancel all of Palantir's contracts with the Canadian government. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

NATO allies are unwilling to directly criticize Trump and the US as he ramps up threats against Greenland. I find a striking similarity to the prewar history of Europe when meek diplomatic statements and appeasement told Hitler all he needed to know.

Lots of political posturing this morning about whether Canada should have taxpayer subsidized school lunch programs. So let's summarize the peer-reviewed evidence:

Across multiple spaces, we're dealing with the re-emergence of old, bad ideas that we long ago learned led to poor outcomes and deliberately decided to bury them

Perhaps it's linked to the death of expertise, hostility to experts in Covid, and the trend of 'doing your own research'

When you get a vaccine or a medical checkup, we expect the healthcare worker to wash their hands and wear gloves.

We should think the same about wearing masks in medical settings. Viruses can spread pre-symptomatically; masks are another effective infection control measure.

please...get USA out of Cdn journalism

regulate ownership of print and television media to Cdns inside Canada and get foreign interests out of our journalism.
The consequence is a weaker Canadian democracy. Without strong journalist watchdogs digging in, power hides in the shadows; politicians get away with misinformation and platitudes. Corruption thrives, and trust erodes because there is no real follow-up or adversarial questioning. 2/4

When the Prime Minister makes a national statement about a man getting attacked in a park because he is Jewish and has never commented on the the Canadian women and girls who are killed at a rate of one every 48 hours I think it is clear where his priorities lie.

You'd think that reinforcing Canada's food safety regime in the face of US evisceration of its regulatory institutions would be top of mind. Apparently not.

Instead, cutting regulations seems to be the order of the day. The exact opposite of what the moment requires.

Appeasement will not work. Any deal we get will be worse than what we had. No deal can be trusted. We need to stop trying to restore the status quo. The sooner Carney clues in to this the better.
