Open borders create more safety than closed ones, and most of the benefits of safety are downriver from being the sort of people who keep their borders open, thereby avoiding the terrible dangers inherent to being the sort of people who would keep their borders closed.
The more of these fascist atrocities I see, the more I become an immigration maximalist. Let everyone in, give everyone work permits/green cards. Make it possible to get citizenship within a few months. Make it as easy as getting a driver's license.

My sentiments exactly. Centrists punching left are just doing what they’ve been programmed to do. In reality, The Left has been systematically eradicated from American public life by the state, the media, and our representatives. I’ll take criticism, but focus your ire on the Nazis.

Someone has sure already made this observation but the fact they can convert all those empty warehouses into prison camps means they could have converted them into housing, community centers, job training centers or, hell, libraries or schools all along. It’s always a matter of will not resources.

My theory of the moment: The extraordinary courage of ordinary people in places like Minneapolis is reawakening us to our social and economic ties to immigrants. It's making "love thy neighbor" cool again. That's the ultimate antidote to MAGA hate.
