it is just incredible how far bari weiss got without ever having an audience other than the rich men she flatters
it really is something that no one affiliated or allied with trump seems to have any sense of how to use power with subtlety and finesse.

I have never, once in my career, heard of a news org responding to a decline-to-comment with, “Well, we’ll hold it until you do.”

The reason is obvious — it gives the subject of your story a pocket veto.

Now seems like a swell time to point out that Frontline just released this excellent 11-minute mini-documentary about what happened inside CECOT.

Sad news: someone stole baby Jesus from our anti-ICE nativity. But vandalism cannot stop us. We just adapt and keep on critiquing this administration’s cruelty on immigration. Where’s baby Jesus? We don’t know. He is being detained in a labyrinthian hellscape where his loved ones cannot find him.

They developed the "high school girl's sports" angle as a wedge issue, to lever their way up to full society-wide discrimination. What's endlessly stunning to me is how many purported liberals a) helped them when it started & b) are still helping them even after the larger purpose has become clear!

Feminism is the idea that women are full human beings, so the question “has feminism failed women?” interrogates the assumptions of those asking far more than it interrogates feminism.

Attacks on feminism are similar to attacks on vaccines. We begin to take for granted a world where women have rights and most children live to see adulthood, and then, over time, we begin to forget, neglect, and (now) reject the movements and innovations that brought us here.
Until the mid-1970’s, a man could not be convicted of rape in New York State based solely on the testimony of the woman he raped. A second witness was required because the female rape victim was deemed unreliable.

Feminism has not failed women.

Here, most people behave as if we were in the real world, not weird trolls, and I really appreciate that.

The strike hit a residential area. A two‑story private house was partially destroyed and caught fire, the blast wave damaged neighboring homes.

restitution can be imposed as criminal penalty, as part of a criminal sentence, wherein the convict pays into a fund maintained by the gov't, and the gov't then distributes restitution to victims,

but restitution can also be part of a civil judgment award,
