Saw this the other day - Virginia’s data centers alone use as much electricity as all of Minnesota.
Collectively, Business Insider estimates that if Virginia's 383 data centers already built or in construction as of September 2025 all come online, they will use between 66.5 terawatt-hours and 106.4 terawatt-hours annually. The low end is roughly equivalent to the amount of power the entire state of Minnesota used in 2023; the high end is more power than Tennessee used that year.

I’m not kidding when I say these weird ass costumes and antics are actually an extremely effective tactic from a media standpoint bc when enough people do them, the media can’t fully scrub them out

If you can find no other reason, please just rank Fateh 3rd out of spite for Jacob.

If he's re-elected and it's close, they will see every Davis/Hampton/nobody ballot that was cast as evidence that their anti-socialist campaign put them over the top (even if it's unrelated to your reservations)

yeah I'm also struggling to understand why they went with "let's make this a data viz story!" without bothering to understand and address the limitations of the data they were using.
rkmpls.bsky.social
Doesn't feel like they cared enough to worry about showing an "accurate" picture. They just wanted to show a picture. Get a story out, make it look like a journalism, doesn't really matter how many corners are cut.

in addition to the other questions...I'm confused why you even attempted to show an "average donation" figure if your analysis was necessarily limited to itemized donations? for most candidates, you're excluding the majority of donations and it's at best a meaningless figure (at worst, misleading)

my all of mpls write up is more diligently researched than the star tribune. i still have to update it for the latest campaign finance report but i listed every donor’s ward and excluded business address donations because that’s a tactic to hide their real address. strib didn’t differentiate there
taylordahlin.com
when i broke down all the donors to all of mpls, i included their wards and noted which ones were donating under the company address, because i searched every single address to find this information out, and i then excluded the company ones from my g graph. this. is. not. hard!

another star tribune failure in not mentioning that john wall doesn't even live in minneapolis. it's clear they only read the decision, they didn't request hearing audio to listen, and we know they didn't send anyone to cover it, i was the only one there!

Minneapolis friends, it is really disturbing to me how many signs I see iin support of Becka Thompson. She is racist, thin-skinned, allergic to nuance and deep thinking, and has proved herself to be utterly ineffective and bullheaded on the Park Board. Why would she be any different on City Council?

I’ve said this before, I’ll say it again.

There was a lot that passed during the 2023 legislative session that had long won over DFL legislators, they just needed to wait for majorities.

But the Northstar Promise Act was not that. Getting that bill passed was a massive accomplishment by Sen. Fateh

I had plenty of issues with Rondo, but I think if anyone was going to be able to do that…it was him as Chief. And we *still* watched the exact opposite happen.

Depending on where the wedding is located (like Minnesota!), you may have to register separately with the county after you’ve been ordained. Many people know this, but our officiant did not(!) so I like to tell folks just to be sure.

I teach in my undergrad class on the history of the US jury system that the institution's roots are in colonial juries serving as a counterweight to abuses of imperial power. The American jury has problems for sure but still can serve that roll. Don't blow off jury service.

That quote jumped out at me, too. The entitlement! The contempt!

It’s like self-parody — these people are so confident in their belief that their money should just shut down voters entirely (no paywall)

I was honored to represent Robin Wonsley and Michael Wilson. I admire them for their commitment to the hard, necessary work ahead of us and required of us. I got fired from a good job for taking this case, and yet I wouldn't change a thing. Thank you, Robin and Michael, for fighting for Minneapolis.

Gonna be thinking about this lede for a minute.
(RNS) — Last month, the Rev. David Black stood in front of a Chicago-area U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility and spread his arms wide. Adorned in all black and wearing a clerical collar, the pastor looked up at a group of masked, heavily armed ICE agents on the roof and began to pray.

“I invited them to repentance,” Black, a minister in the Presbyterian Church (USA), said in an interview. “I basically offered an altar call. I invited them to come and receive that salvation, and be part of the kingdom that is coming.”

But when Black began to lower his arms a few seconds later, the agents responded to his spiritual plea by firing pepper balls, or chemical agents that cause eye irritation and respiratory distress, video footage shows. One struck Black in the head, exploding into a puff of white pepper smoke and forcing him to his knees. Fellow demonstrators rushed to his aid, and as the pastor rubbed his face in pain, the agents continued to fire.

“We could hear them laughing,” Black said.

This is not okay. Everyone should be standing against the intense islamophobia and anti Somali hate we are seeing in our city. Please speak out and stand against the fomenting of hate. Thanks CP & Senator for taking action.

Shelley Madore supporting voter ID should be disqualifying to represent any part of Minneapolis.
meshm.bsky.social
Other Madore accomplishments:
- Voting with Rs against some of the biggest healthcare bills: major reform, omnibus spending, patient data protection
- Supporting an amendment to require photo ID when voting
- Leaning on 2 years as a suburban state rep 18 years ago as her main qualification
mplsforthemany.com
Given her lack of connection to Ward 2, it should come as no surprise that her biggest accomplishment as an Apple Valley legislator was described by one DFL legislator as “Taking money from Minneapolis and St. Paul.”
