no fan of jeffries, but holy shit is this article misleading. in the press briefing he calls for "a prohibition that DHS cannot *detain* or deport American citizens", and his focus throughout the briefing is on the detainment part
House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) on Thursday said House Democrats will demand a ban on the deportation of American citizens as a condition of winning their support for legislation funding the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

An instant classic from Bruce Springsteen.

And a little something I’m sure has gotten more views than a certain documentary…

As far as I know, Tom Suozzi here still does not have a primary challenger in his district (NY-3 on Long Island).

The filing deadline is April 6 for the primary on June 23, and if there's a remotely progressive town council member or PTA president in that district, this is the time to make a move.
Confronted Congressman Tom Suozzi, one of seven Democrats casting the decisive votes to increase ICE funding by $10,000,000,000.

Giving them more training won't make them more peaceful.

It'll just make their brutalization more polished and effective.
The officer who shot Alex worked for DHS for 8 years. The officer who shot Renee worked for DHS for over 10 years. Both are considered “highly trained.”

The problem isn’t "training." DHS was built to violate our rights and has been empowered to act with impunity. We must MELT ICE and dismantle DHS.

Pretti died after asking a woman he was with if she was OK.

Good died after telling the man who killed her that she wasn’t mad at him.

Mirror-imaging. They could never imagine putting themselves on the line for another person or their community (remember JD Vance's theory of love, that it extends only to your family and no one else?) and they know any "resistance" on their end would be purely transactional - so they assume the same
James O'Keefe says he's never seen anything so organized as the anti-ICE movement, observers--he seems to think this term is code--everywhere he goes. Who is paying for it??? he demands to know. It's like he can't even imagine people caring for one another.

"Please get the truth out about our son.”
Powerful statement from the family of Alex Pretti, obtained by CNN:

"Alex was a kindhearted soul who cared deeply for his family and friends and also the American veterans whom he cared for as an ICU nurse at the Minneapolis VA hospital. Alex wanted to make a difference in this world..."

this is not the first fight.

this will not be the last fight.

we do this in memory of those who came before us and fought too.

we do this for love of those who will come after us.

there is good in this world and it is worth fighting for.

This is hard to watch but much clearer—there's no question about the chain of events, especially how he was on his knees before being shot from behind.

How is this anything but protecting his colleagues? Alex Petti is literally putting himself between an ICE agent on the right and the women he was with on the right as the agent sprays them.
