If you have one, singular billion dollars you have more than enough money for your entire life.

The poorest person on this list has $135 billion dollars that they will never need.

Wealth is psychosis.
pretty stunning chart

This is the right way to be an elected official.
Sen. Lisa Wellman: points out her Mercer Island district would have the largest number of people paying the Millionaires Tax, but, "kids in every district deserve great education, today I'm choosing to stand up for them and fund quality education."

She ends with "I'm voting YES on this bill"

I'm at their second benefit show right now. (They just opened their 3rd set with "American Idiot.) These white suburban parents are wearing t-shirts with slogans like "RADICALIZED BY BASIC HUMAN DECENCY" and "NO ONE IS ILLEGAL ON STOLEN LAND BUILT BY STOLEN HANDS." (4/?)

Welp, I liked the house. Quite a lot.

Damn it.
The problem with periodically looking at home listings is sometimes your husband comes home from work

and the first thing he hears is "there's a great house close to here – we should move"

and he agrees to go the open house tomorrow

and you get pre-approved for a mortgage

all in 2 hours.

There hasn't been nearly enough Cybertruck hate lately but it's still deeply deserved.

Seattle folks! I've got two tickets for Here There are Blueberries at Seattle Rep today. My hip pain means I can't go – anyone want them? Show starts at 2pm.

When you can have anything you want nothing has value.
And by weird, I mean they get fixated on weird things.

I think when you have that much money, when you can have, within reason, anything you want, the stakes of life get very *abstracted* for you.

And abstracted can turn into “twisted” very easily.

Seems like a normal, grown up home.

Huh, that's a little's odd.

Holy shit
You may be having a bad day but at least The Independent didn’t refer to you as the figurehead of the modern literacy crisis.

If I got this review I would simply disappear into a puff of dust.

I know there are a lot of mutual aid asks coming out of Minneapolis right now, but both of my kids graduated from South High and it would mean a lot to me for people to contribute to this rent fund for my fellow South families. I’ll match the first $1000 if you post receipts. Tiger Pride 🧡🖤

This rhetoric about no one needing to be heroic or think of themselves as special or w/e is just a psyop at this point.

We are the ones alive at the most critical inflection point of human history. You goddamn right we are special. We are fighting villains so we better start acting like heroes.

I want to live in my life. I don't want to ask a computer to live my life for me.
"why don't you just use AI to do that?"

idk, man, for the same reason I wouldn't drive my car one block to pick up the mail?

Dreamed I was going into space for some kind of Armageddon mission. The morning we launched I realized I had forgotten to tell my clients that I would be gone for awhile.

Our anxious dog learned that he can open the back door and let himself into the house.

He also learned that he will be in trouble for doing so.

This morning he opened the back door and laid down outside it, waiting for permission to come inside.

But I will be that annoying person to remind folks that talking about the tech itself is a red herring. There is something happening here. But it is cultural. We're under assault by people who are actively working to devalue human jobs.
bsky.app/profile/polo...
The current trajectory of deploying LLM tech absolutely constitutes a direct assault on human labor. I understand that and I'm not ignoring it. I will say that I think focusing on the tech as a way to push back is not a winning strategy. The tech is not doing this. Humans are.
This is a route to destroy unions of public school workers, increase class sizes, make small classes a luxery, and ultimately mandate teachers use Ai "efficiently" enough to justify the additional labor.

When I got the contract to write a history of concentration camps in 2014, I hoped to keep the US from ending up here. That didn't work out! But now it's critical to understand how much is already in process and the enormity of what's coming. The sooner we act to stop it, the more people we'll save.
