I’ve also noticed that whenever people talk about “the authority of God” they never mean it, what they *actually* mean is “the unquestioned authority of the men who claim to speak for God”

I still think it’s weird that American evangelicals, the people who TAUGHT me that faith was primarily a matter of deep personal conviction and that our relationship to Jesus was “personal,” are the ones who want a theocracy

Ross Douthat treats this guy like they're having some deep conversation about the relationship of Christianity and the government, but the dude is a garden-variety dull, shallow, hateful, worthless bigot with nothing interesting to say, just endless riffs on "God hates everything/everyone I do."
Douthat: So that’s the first purpose of your political project, for America to stop making God angry.

Wilson: Yes. And most people think that when they are confronted with that project, they think that we want to get our tentacles into everything and start controlling everything. I actually think we need limited government. The government should be significantly smaller than it is, and we need to curtail a lot of the busybodyness that we have. That’s why I would call myself a theocratic libertarian. There is a true libertarian element in this, and yet, the transcendent grounding for what we’re talking about means that we acknowledge the authority of God.

We have racked up quite a body count of awful crimes, and I believe the only way out is for us to repent and turn to Christ. This would be things like no more Pride parades, no more drag queen story hours, no more abortion on demand, no more legalized same-sex unions — all of that, done. That’s the repentance part.

It's important to note that Wilson has scathing hatred for queer people but had no qualms about defending one of his seminary students who *sexually abused the 14-year-old daighter of the host family he was staying with*

FWIW, Im generally pro-"tell the world about this once-fringe thing" journalism. And the NYT piece had some good pushback. But these folks want to be normalized, and every "grievance presented as fact presented as justification" that they get through is a step in that direction.

The folks claiming this stuff are the same ones who decided “believe women” or “Black lives matter” = calls to upend due process and the rights of white men. It’s a nesting doll of obfuscation and hysterics that allows them to be victims and thus justified to openly pursue a politics of denomination

As a straight young white man who covers Christian nationalism, I would perhaps have asked Doug Wilson some follow ups on this if it were running it in the NYT as part of his 10K-word defense of Christian nationalism.

For example:

“That really happen?”
“You sure about that??”
“But did it tho?????”
Wilson: No, I grant the point in principle. I don't believe that classical liberalism gets everything wrong. I really don't believe that.
And I enjoyed very much the country I grew up in, and I received many benefits from that era. So that point's granted.

But on the dank right, I believe that the liberal treatment of young white males has been one of the causes for this recoil and eruption. What you had was a toxic combination of a bad economy of young men being told repeatedly that they are the cancer of the planet, that their masculinity is toxic, that their skin is the blight of the world, and their heterosexuality is a hate crime.

I don't want to lambast a guy for the crimes of his son, but how many times do we have to hear about another church pedophile.

It's not porn's fault you're a sexual abuser. Maybe if people spent time dealing with actual ISSUES rather than blaming everything on a imaginary demon...
Screen shot of Ron DeHaas essay (The Perfect Sin) recovered from the Covenant Eyes website:

As my personal burden for the issue of internet pornography has grown, I have seen in the testimonials of our members how pornography has broken relationships.
It breaks down relationships between husbands and wives, parents and children, on the job, even lost jobs, relationship to church family, relationship to the "inner man," and a person's relationship to God.
Related: The Effects of Porn on Wives and Marriages
When there is a secret life going on, that secret life affects every one of those relationships. A secret life pervades every aspect of life, and diminishes effectiveness in all areas of life-home, job, church, everything. For those who are active in a church of any faith, a secret life destroys ministry, and the cumulative effect of millions of secret lives is an ineffective church. Basically, Internet pornography has been perhaps the greatest push toward an era of ineffective ministry.
Related: Porn-A Gateway Drug
All the more for the pastor, minister, or counselor whose job and ministry are tied together. The damage that Internet pornography has done is truly immeasurable.
So, from Satan's perspective, internet pornography is the perfect sin. It breaks families and jobs and communities, it tears down a person's relationship to God, it diminishes the work of ministry, and it is devastating in every way. And it is freely available to everyone of all ages, it is only two clicks (maybe one if it's bookmarked) away from you reading this, it is addictive, and (without a monitoring program) it is totally secret. I firmly believe that internet pornography is the sin of this decade. What more could
Satan ask for?

DeHaas said he founded Covenant Eyes to keep his kids from accessing porn on the internet. The app blocks porn sites as well as screenshots images from your device and sends them to your "accountability partner"

His son used the app Hush to lure a 14 year old for sex, asking for her to send pics.

Now that the local and national press have started to cover the Portland ICE area round-the-clock in reaction to the President, Antifa have devised a plan where they are encouraging one another to come in animal costumes.

The costumes serve the function of masking the violent extremism to make the direct action appear like a family-friendly gathering on camera, and to whitewash the past ultraviolence.

In 2019, Antifa devised a similar plot by giving out free "milkshakes" at a protest. But they couldn't contain their bloodthirst and nearly killed me when they saw me. In 2020, they mobilized a fake "Wall of Moms" where female Antifa supporters and members wore yellow shirts to act as human body shields while violent rioters behind them hurled projectile weapons.

Undead Neil Postman, after a couple cigarettes to steady himself, would look at a smartphone and a video app, let out a loud guffaw, and say “my god, they let some Californians enslave the world, did they?”
