Who's this for?

I think probably autistic creatives who struggle with shame, people who struggle defining a single cohesive vision of their creative work, people who're horny and have been told to feel bad about it.

Tying Myself in Knots is out!

It's about shame, autism, self-expression and acceptable art. It's personal and not what I usually write, but I think it's good.

I hope people 'get' it, or at least, enjoy it!

So I'm kinda familiar with overstimulation in terms of sensory stimuli; too much noise, light etc, how does it work with organising your documents and information?
robinjoak.bsky.social
That's how I usually start, too, but I get off track, too easily. Some of the tangents are irresistable; this might be a discipline thing more than anything 😅

I was always disheartened by it, thinking it meant I'd never be serious about writing, and recently I saw a video of George RR Martin talking about the same thing, so that was vindicating! Apparently outlines suck all the fun out of it for him, which surprised me given the length of his books.

Even if we don't get there, it'll be fun to try!

You're truly not alone in this one. I am an ardent believer in science as a way to advance humanity until I encounter a govt. Form online and then I long for fire and cave paintings 😅

In 2004, Parisian police were conducting a training exercise in the french catacombs and found, after moving past a desk and a tape playing audio of snarling dogs, a fully functional movie theater and bar. When they returned 3 days later, the equipment was gone, with a note: “Do not try to find us.”
Members of the force's sports squad, responsible
- among other tasks - for policing the 170 miles of tunnels, caves, galleries and catacombs that underlie large parts of Paris, stumbled on the complex while on a training exercise beneath the Palais de Chaillot, across the Seine from the Eiffel Tower.
After entering the network through a drain next to the Trocadero, the officers came across a tarpaulin marked: Building site, No access.
Behind that, a tunnel held a desk and a closed-circuit TV camera set to automatically record images of anyone passing. The mechanism also triggered a tape of dogs barking, "clearly designed to frighten people off," the spokesman said.
Further along, the tunnel opened into a vast 400 sq metre cave some 18m underground, "like an underground amphitheatre, with terraces cut into the rock and chairs". There the police found a full-sized cinema screen, projection equipment, and tapes of a wide variety of films, including 1950s film noir classics and more recent thrillers. None of the films were banned or even offensive, the spokesman said.
A smaller cave next door had been turned into an informal restaurant and bar. "There were bottles of whisky and other spirits behind a bar, tables and chairs, a pressure-cooker for making couscous," the spokesman said.
"The whole thing ran off a professionally installed electricity system and there were at least three phone lines down there."
Three days later, when the police returned accompanied by experts from the French electricity board to see where the power was coming from, the phone and electricity lines had been cut and a note was lying in the middle of the floor: "Do not," it said, "try to find us."

You were moved to do this by pride and by hate. Is it any wonder the result was ruin?

Are you doing your bit to fight back against the puritanical christo-corporate sanitisation and reckless profiteering of the once open internet?

Here's to future where the internet is weird and threatening to corporations again.

Self portrait, August 2021.

I want to be described as "weird and threatening to corporations" SO badly lmao

We were also at a point where lots of new tech was being created to make things easier for artists, and suddenly that's all being wiped away in favor of an anti-artist AI fad.

"Oh, artists don't need tech that works, because ChatGPT will lie to you and say that it can do things it can't! Eat sh*t!"

GenAI truly was the worst technology to come along at this moment.

An energy and water guzzler when we most urgently need to take climate action.

A disinformation machine as our journalism fails.

A bias machine as fascism takes root.

A job killer in a cost of living crisis.

Love these; so atmospheric - they really spark story ideas about the expressionless white-faced queen of the deep wood.

Thank you so much. This was from 2023. Jenn made her costume out of old curtains. We were super lucky to score an extra foggy morning up the mountain that day. Didn't even plan it!

What puts you off outlining? It seems to suck the fun out of it, for me. I like finding out what's going to happen as I'm going along XD
robinjoak.bsky.social
When I'm on my death bed, I'm still going to be trying to convince myself that I should give outlining a go lol I've tried over and over and I just can't seem to get on with it, but I also can't seem to get much *finished* by just writing. I'll write LOADS, but it never seems to end right.

Mad lad for the Sunfall Cycle :3
#art
A bulky dude standing tall in a red and white linothorax/brigandine type of armor. His bare arms are scrawled with glowing blue heavenly symbols, and his face is obscured by a masked helmet in the shape of a cherub's head. He is carrying a heavily flamberge arming sword, a dagger, a hip flask, a crossbow and a pavise shield. The sword looks pretty fucking evil, with the blade being wavy and spiky as it is and being colored with a gradiant of black to red towards the tip.

She is wearing several layers of elaborate robes, with rich reds and teals and gold accents. She is also wearing a sacrificial dagger and a chatelaine on a gold chain across her hips.

Got high, wrote something pretty. Here is the start of it. Been a while since I wrote something I was excited about.
“I don’t fuck on a first date”

Partway through a kiss. A good one. A promising one. I break off and hold my face close to his. Whisper:

“I don’t fuck on the first date, just so you know.”
“Oh. Ok. Why’s that?” I don’t know what he’s thinking, but I imagine it’s something about self respect. Maybe I don’t fuck on a first date because I want men to value me more, or because I’ve been shagged then ghosted enough to be a bit wary of jumping straight into bed. But that is not what I say.

That is not how I feel.

The reason I don’t fuck on a first date is…

“Because anticipation is half the fun.”
