Been thinking a lot about how the pandemic fundamentally broke our brains and our collective response; in a way it reminds me of the frenzied excess of the 1920s as people reeled from WWI and the influenza pandemic, and the hard fall we took at the end of that decade is coming for us this time too.

I am annoyed that it took multiple doctors, several years and failed attempts at three different types of birth control to make it happen, but I am excited it's finally happening.

It's not medically informed, it's a reactionary response to transphobic bigotry whipped up into a frenzy over the past few years.

I am annoyed that the discourse of the week means that "I am not American" has been stuck in my head for days now.

I don't even like this song.

How could two whole continents
Lose their name to one constituent
Where were we when the U.S. went
And took the word American away

But to be fair to them
Their other name options
Like U.S.A.ers and United Statesians
Were pretty bad

Still I want to be as American
As the French are European
Or those in Antarctica are Antarctican
Even if they're just penguins

According to historians, the first celebration of Thanksgiving in North America occurred in 1579 after the safe landing of Martin Frobisher's fleet in Newfoundland[20] after an unsuccessful attempt in search of the Northwest Passage.[5] His third voyage, to the Frobisher Bay area of Baffin Island in the present Canadian territory of Nunavut, set out with the intention of starting a small settlement. His fleet of fifteen ships was outfitted with men, materials, and provisions. However, the loss of one of his ships through contact with ice, along with many of the building materials, was to prevent him from doing so. The expedition was plagued by ice and freak storms, which at times scattered the fleet; on meeting again at their anchorage in Frobisher Bay,
