Code, feminism, board games, baking, bikes, banjos. Crazy cat lady. Urbanist in the US South. Ambivalently semi-european. she/her. ICE must be destroyed.

Between chilly weather (finally!) and a feeling of doom, I'm feeling the carbs, so I've decided to start a bake-through of the new King Arthur Big Book of Bread. First up: Focaccia #BreadSky

Crowd is massive, now overflowing Congress Plaza and taking up a block-long stretch of Michigan Avenue.

Reminder: this event was only announced yesterday.

Voting NO on the DHS funding bill is the bare minimum.

Backing Kristi Noem’s impeachment is the bare minimum.

Holding law-breaking ICE agents legally accountable is the bare minimum.

ICE is beyond reform. Abolish it.

In case you didn’t know, being undocumented in America is a less serious violation than Gonzo here’s trespace.

To use the vernacular, criminal trespass is a misdemeanor. Entering the US undocumented is akin to jaywalking, which is a civil violation with a fine.

FUCK ICE
FUCK TRUMP
Behaviores Report: 85% goode, 5% trespaced on hellocobber shelve, 10% went behinde tVee twice

The majority of organizing happening in Minnesota isn’t just peaceful, it’s INVISIBLE. Moms showing up who won’t be interviewed on TV, people whose ICE patrols don’t turn into viral video. The grocery runs, the donations, the people filming bc they happen to be there. Please remember this.

I'm not asking for reform because arguing on paper about what ICE has to do is not the fucking point, because--and this is important--they are not following the fucking paper.

I said "abolish" and I did not stutter, because if fascists goons can take over every four years, there is no paper reform.

I remain absolutely furious that all this shit in Minneapolis started because a barely-literate homeschooled mormon made a video trying to run up in daycare centers trying to find people of Somalian descent doing fraud despite the ringleader (a white woman) being in jail since March. Demonic.

they're executing moms and nurses in the street. they're using preschoolers as bait. they're stealing people's dads and grandmas and children. they're tear gassing babies. they're staking out schools. there is no remedy but abolition. any proposal that doesn't start there is an act of violence.

It is not your duty to finish the work, but neither are you free to abandon it
It can be a hard pill to swallow but you have to accept that while you will prevail in this struggle, you may not be there to witness it.
Nonviolence is, in fact, working. This administration is weaker than it was a year ago. More and more of the public is becoming galvanized against it; its agents are being impeded.

Alex Pretti - rest in peace

He was ICU nurse bearing witness to ICE’s unconstitutional actions, rendering aid to an observer in need

When Mr. Rogers taught us to “Look for the helpers,” he was talking about Alex

ICE decided to execute him instead
Alex from our time working together, while he was in nursing school. Later, he moved to ICU, working as a nurse to support critically ill Veterans. He had such a great attitude. We’d chat between patients about trying to get in a mountain bike ride together. Will never happen now

Alex Pretti was a colleague at the VA. We hired him to recruit for our trial. He became an ICU nurse- I lover working with him. He was a good kind person who lived to help and these fuckers executed him.

Hey, does anyone know of a document that lays out what to do if a ruler quarters large bodies of armed troops among us, protects them for any murders which they should commit on us, abdicates government by declaring us out of his protection and waging war against us?

All congressbeings have numbers in their districts as well as their DC offices; most have multiple such offices. They all have separate voice mail boxes. If the inbox is full, call the other numbers. (Yes I know we all hate phones. I hate to even call family. But I will rage-call, no problem.)
Call them until their voicemail is full, then call again when it’s empty; we’ve had no peace in my neighborhood, our senators should have no peace either
Anyone telling you NOT to call your member of congress today is an op or under the influence of an op

There is literally no reason not to

Telling people not to call is not a radical position

We have been told for nearly 30 years that America needed to tolerate mass shootings because the broad availability of guns would help us defend ourselves from an overreaching federal government. That day has come. The people who said this are supporting the federal agents. Many have joined them.

Minneapolis Police Chief O'Hara: "The video speaks for itself. We have identified this person - 37-year-old, white male, resident of the city. The only interaction that we are aware of with law enforcement has been for traffic tickets and we believe he is a lawfully gun owner with a permit to carry"
