New Year's Resolution Suggestion: Stop apologizing for being "late to the party" with books or films or music or whatever. You are only one person and there's only so much time. You can't experience everything when it's new. It's all right. Get to it when you get it. It'll still be worth the effort.

I admit, for me Nurse Chapel steals the show, with Ortegas and Uhura not far behind. I love how they fleshed them out. On the other hand, the original series felt ahead of its time. This series isn't brave enough to do the same.

Just finished @brentclambert.bsky.social's A Necessary Chaos. Hugely good fun. Gay fever dream Mr & Mrs Smith with interesting science-fantasy dystopian setting. Ridiculous chemistry between the lesds, great action sequences and very effective worldbuilding in a v short page court.

Creators: When you can (and you almost always can), celebrate your fellow creators in public. Take joy in their successes, talk them up to your own fans and friends, and do what you can to make them feel welcome and included in the community we are all part of. It will make everyone's lives better.

Dear debut authors: other debut authors are not your competition, they are your friends, sounding boards, and the only people in your unique position. You should be surrounding yourself with debut people who will champion you, as you should champion them. No dedicated reader ever buys just one book!

My plan for December is to tidy up the mess that came out of NaNo. I edited two chapters and realised, you know what, it came out much better than I thought it would be, given the pressure. #writingcommunity

Some weekends I stare at my WIP and muddle through a lazy paragraph or three. Other weekends I rip through whole chapters, torture characters and sharpen sentences to a razor's edge. This was one of those weekends. Feels good.
