I heard there was a Cohen song,

And all the Christians got it wrong,

But you don’t really get the meaning do ya?

‘Cause you see its about getting laid,

It’s sex, and love, and Jewish faith,

But all the gentiles heard was “hallelujah!”

After a "double-tap" strike was ordered to kill survivors of an initial attack on a so-called "drug boat," the White House has tried to gaslight the American people by fabricating their own reality. This spin is the latest in a pattern of denial and distortion at the highest levels of government.
Double-Tap Gate: A Case Study in Gaslighting
We’re all trapped in Trump’s fabricated world and need to pull ourselves up out of it.

This seems like the kind of declaration by a U.S. president that should be mentioned *somewhere* on the front page of CNN or the NY Times, but the fact that it isn't (as of right now) tells us so much both about how this president is covered and the credibility of the U.S. government.
Might be kicking off.

"quadrupling down on being a pain in the ass, politically"

Let's all make that a 2026 goal!
Here's a note I sent to our members about what we did with their money, and why we expect the Onion to outgrow the Washington Post.

We keep doing weird, hard shit — taunting ICE, yelling at Congress for not taunting ICE, buying bad websites — when nobody else does.

Our members keep getting papers.

To put a finer point on this whole thing: "Two people with direct knowledge of the operation" — presumably uniformed military leaders — are accusing the U.S. Secretary of Defense of personally ordering specific war crimes. That's a historic accusation.
Textbook war crime/extrajudicial killing

"Two survivors were clinging to the smoldering wreck. The Special Operations commander overseeing the Sept. 2 attack ... ordered a second strike to comply with Hegseth’s instructions."

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth issued a verbal order to kill all crew members in the Sept. 2 strike on a suspected drug boat. Navy SEALs fired a second missile.

NORAD won’t be “tracking” #Santa this year, but intercepting him
From Mar-a-Lago, President Trump says Santa and his “filthy reindeer” will enter U.S. airspace illegally w/ “mystery substances” in candy canes. “Bad man. We will locate, identify, destroy the sleigh. It’s for the kids. I love 👧 kids.”

The Trump administration has reacted to a small scale lone wolf attack by in DC announcing a sweeping collective punishment, using the organs of government to heap blame on partisan rivals, and potentially dissuading anyone from collaborating with US forces abroad for a generation.

There’s a moment in the classic film “Paths of Glory” in which an artillery officer, told to commit a war crime, asks for the order in writing.

That is happening right now, in real life, among US troops in the Carribbean.

Except in the movie, the demand kept the crime from happening.

For what it’s worth, as a commander and officer it was my duty, moral obligation, and legal requirement to first question and then to not obey any illegal order I was given.

The same is true for everyone who swear their oath.

Hope that clears things up.

Underrated thing that's been flying under the radar: ICE's hiring spree, by necessity since there are so few others willing and able, has been hiring away local cops, which infuriates the departments by causing manpower problems and is, ironically, removing the worst of the worst from their ranks.
The more local police see ICE assholes as criminals, the better it will be for us.

"When he was arrested, he said, 'I'm ICE, boys,'" Hodges said during a press conference Tuesday. "Well, unfortunately for him, we locked him up."
