When I was teaching freshman English composition decades ago, the three things I said (nicely!) to challenge my students’ assertions were “Oh yeah?” “So what?“ and “Says who?”

I feel like we should be saying this kind of thing to our government much, much more often.

They are likely imagining a Dem-controlled House that refused to seat a GOP rep - which would never happen anyway! - and the GOP rep would simply show up on the House floor and insist on being sworn in and the Dem Speaker would crumble and do it.

So they're evil, but we're useless, right?

I was having panic attacks, so it was pure survival! I lost my founding status with one of the newsletters and had to resubscribe at a less favorable rate, but it was worth it.

All this is true, but again, Platner has to beat Mills. If he does that, it will sharpen him up for the general, so while I do worry about Mills winning the primary, I also think that if Schumer is worried about Platner, this is how we test, you know? No way around it.

I was in an Indivisible/Swing Left group where I did canvassing and letter writing during the election season. After the election, the group beefed itself up and has gotten much more active. My guess is that wherever you are, there is an Indivisible group that has done likewise, so I'd start there.

There were 200,000+ of us in NYC last June and I’m expecting more this time. I’m trying to figure out whether it makes sense to sell my Indivisible group on going in on bagel and lox or water dog suits. Inflatable slices. Inflatable lamb on rice? Dim sum baskets.
