Minnesota democrats issued a statement attacking their opponent solely on the basis of his criminal defense work. They essentially cite fulfilling the requirements of our Constitution as evidence of lacking a moral compass. A reminder that the erosion of the rule of law can come from all directions.

Move Minneapolis is the transportation organization taken under the umbrella of the Minneapolis Chamber of Commerce in 2019, then milked for cash under CEO Jonathan Weinhagen. Now being thrown in the trash after the Met Council found questionable spending of grant money.

This is gonna sound a bit [bong rip] but it's weird how a SCOTUS this brazenly fucked still functions as the be-all end-all of American law, like there's no mechanism available to just be like "hey, this court is *obviously* just making shit up, so, no thank you."

It feels like a cheat code.

A political action committee called Excellence Minnesota collected a $157,000 war chest to spend in support of right-wing school board candidates across four Minnesota school districts. They are likely to target other races in 2026, legal fellow @ksteinberg29.bsky.social writes.

This is my "Dutch Auction" theory of authoritarianism.

It's no coincidence, for example, that the Wannsee Conference, where the Nazi top leadership signed off on the Final Solution, took place just after the military tide turned outside Moscow, and the U.S. declared war on Germany.
The most dangerous moment in every authoritarian regime is when it realizes that its power has crested and is now falling. This is when they realize that if they are to achieve their maximalist ambitions, now they have to throw the dice — because no matter how bad the odds, their odds are best now.

I have largely gotten over the American insistence on not asking for help. It's dumb, it's inefficient, and it's wildly counterintuitive to human nature - we're not meant to function as standalone individuals (and almost never do, in reality).

So when I need help, I almost always will ask for it.
