Just to underscore:

Trans people, we aren't "issues".

Me, I'm not an "ideology".

I'm a human, like anyone else.

The only "ideology" here is those bigots who use such rhetoric in their effort to dehumanize trans people — because they want us gone.
Polling on trans issues is difficult to interpret. It becomes even more difficult when pollsters use politically charged terms like 'transgender ideology.'

Great new analysis by @billiejsweeney.bsky.social, only on Assigned Media.

This is how Labour talk about trans people behind our backs yet insist they’re the party of equality and we have no choice but to vote for them, btw
This is so infuriating. There was quite a big debate over ruling out tax rises! Rachel Reeves just shut it down by answering every single bloody time "well, being in government would be a nice problem to have"!!!

We lost a generation to government revelling in the AIDs epidemic.
Then we had Section 28 pouring hatred and moral panic damnation.
So LGBTQIA+ kids had no one. We agreed NEVER AGAIN but here we are.
This government is murdering this generation & denying them their rights as children.
my generation was irrevocably harmed by thatcher's section 28. the next generation will be irrevocably harmed by @bphillipsonmp.bsky.social's section 28.

never forget that labour did this. not the tories or reform. labour are doing these things and they're using a discredited 'review' to justify it

Given the extremely high level of suicide amongst trans children; seven times that of cis children, “caution” needs to mean…

allowing trans children to transition and be accepted and supported in their wishes without delay. ANY other response risks putting their lives in danger.
Labour continues to troll the trans community - and to prioritise pleasing the right wing press. We know Hilary Cass was selected for her transphobic views: Kemi Badenoch told us exactly that.

So why is she running trans policy for Labour?

This guidance is horrifying, and translates as the *expectation* that schools be permitted to force young trans people back into the closet in most circumstances.

The expectation that doing so could successfully pressure them into no longer being trans into adulthood.

Institutionalised conversion
Again, the idea that "best interests" may be served by not *allowing* someone to undergo social transition at school is restated. (And that can include the best interests of OTHER PEOPLE!!)

Conversion practices are being directly written into the guidance.

Every day I hear a new upsetting story about how trans kids are being treated in our schools.

When responding to today's important claim that segregation might not apply to workplaces - let's not leave behind our youngest community members who are being completely failed across our schools.

They say "no child should be made to feel unsafe by mixed sex toilets or sport" but there are trans kids who are forced to impair their education by walking home to use toilets they feel safe in at lunch time because of policies like this.

They don't care in the slightest about trans young people.

What on earth is Hilary Cass, ex-GP, doing shoving herself into children's education?

It could not be more transparent that she was selected to deliver an anti-trans assault on their healthcare and then promoted to the Lords to give her the authority to broaden that ideological assault.
Heads up: this looks as bad as suspected:

Don't hold back there, Stonewall...🙄
Small mercy that they have at least, finally, updated the piece with a comment from @stonewalluk.bsky.social, but it doesn't change that this is a hideously biased article which quotes Cass without question on a policy which will undeniably harm trans and non-binary young people.

I've joked before about needing a doctor's permission before getting a haircut, but the bigots are actually proposing that (for trans kids only of course, just like PBs, the cutting of a kids hair in an unapproved manner is dangerous and must only be undertaken with strict medical guidance)
This draft guidance reproduces Cass insisting that clinicians must be involved in decisions about *social transition* which actually should be none of their damn business

They take the line that this "non-directive" intervention should force things to be "keeping options open and flexible"...

Trans folk and allies, flood this. It won’t stop them doing irreparable damage to trans kids in schools but in twenty years when this gets studied we’ll be able to say they knew the consequences and how poorly received it was.

The amount of harm being done is incalculable and won't be fully known for decades.

Every single 'gender-critical' measure boils down to more authoritarianism, treating children as the inanimate property of the parents, and policing even the smallest signs of gender-nonconformity.
"Other support", sounds like conversion therapy to me!

The Supreme Court has fundamentally undermined the Equality Act. The judges blatantly lied about “painstakingly” reviewing the Act for inconsistencies. They did not.

The damage is so severe that only a complete rewrite of the legislation can properly restore its purpose and effectiveness.

From what I could see, there were only five LGBT+ people in the public gallery, and I was the only trans woman there.

It appears the DfE will impose state-sanctioned harassment, taking advantage of the longstanding carve-out that leaves LGBT+ pupils without proper protection from harassment.

It's worth noting that this was also a pretext to open up new services designed and run by people who push an unproven pseudoscientific "Gender Exploratory Therapy" model that has been likened to conversion therapy by international experts.
In a functional country, this would be a scandal. A service suffering only from chronic underfunding was ripped apart because the media created a myth of 1000s of complaints of malpractice. The truth - as in my family’s experience - was very different.
