And Tiny Tim, who DID respawn at the base and switch to a healer because the team was too dps-heavy

The ironclad law of podcasts is that if it was sold to Spotify for 300 million dollars it is unlistenable within the first 15 seconds but if the three people are sharing one meal from Wendy’s you can listen for hours

The hardest-working person at Global for years was the person who added a floating “on Global” word mark to the title card on The Simpsons.
Global TV is a low-effort conservative-leaning private network, and this wasn’t “treachery” this was “it was the weekend before Christmas and they just broadcast the episode that was sent to them digitally by CBS on Friday”, no one in the office on the weekend even if CBS tried to warn them
From the Atlantic attempt to justify Bari Weiss' decision. What's Canadian for "perfidious Albion?"

Okay, fine. Global's got it.

Whenever this question comes up, I want to ask what immigration opponents *think* the requirements are.

Were I prime minister and spiteful, I’d then introduce a bill to make immigration standards exactly what I was just told they are.

It’s nice to agree with people.
"Should it be harder or easier for people to legally immigrate to Canada?"

Harder: 61% (+16)
Keep things as they are: 21% (-14)
Easier: 10% (-4)

Not-that-hot take:

People really can't handle learning they're doing something wrong these days. It's difficult to present corrective information in this environment where everyone views themselves as attacked rather than mistaken.

I just downloaded a 500 megabyte update for the speaker in front of my television, and yet somehow that's *less* bad than the fact that my television (a device that for most of human history has turned on instantly) takes 10 seconds to boot and doesn't know how yellow works.

“I won’t get invested in this show because Netflix will cancel it anyway, they [insert attribution of malice]. I’ll binge the first season *after* it’s renewed.”
Also: evangelize the things you love.

One of the most painful things about working at Netflix was that seeing that people have a bad habit of only evangelizing awesome things they saw on their favorite streaming service AFTER those things got cancelled.
Folks I emphasize as always, if you don't actually show up for the things you want, they stop getting made. Sometimes you gotta be okay with taking a chance on that 7/10 game knowing it's the only way those creators get to keep making the stuff you wanna see

The open source economic model was invented by a guy who could just sleep under his desk at MIT and live off free cafeteria food, and it shows.
I was one of these guys and what I watched happen was that a handful of tech companies took the work of all those free software evangelists and built trillion dollar monopolies on top of it while the free software creators got nothing and went broke.

The worst part of the Line 6 disaster is how utterly goddamn miserable the experience of taking buses on Finch is. I did it a few years ago and even then it could utterly destroy any flicker of joy in me.

And right now, the ride that *doesn’t* make me want to die is the one that’s worse.

If the people who made that Franklin the War Criminal meme had been even slightly media-literate, they would have used Caillou instead.

And sat back and watched their enemies sigh, slump their shoulders, and say "yeah, he probably would".

Still shocking that "I call dibs on whatever file is currently at this URL" did not turn out to be a trillion-dollar industry. Maybe they didn't do enough "furthermore, my dibs are very, very real and demand respect".

(Many NFTs, right now, are 404ing because the URL... went away.)

Sigh. I just thought of yet another way the premier could screw over downtown, and I'm worried if I say it I'll manifest it into existence. #toronto

Restaurant review: if you love sitting for twenty minutes while the waitstaff doesn’t even bring you a glass of water, you’ll love Eataly at the Eaton Centre.

“Strong floor, no ceiling” isn’t an inspiring slogan, it’s a description of an unhoused person sleeping on the ground without a tent.

Every news segment about why the condo market in Toronto has cratered should be eight seconds long:

“It’s because sellers are demanding too much money and should lower the price. Now here’s Jimmy with sports.”

Renaming Dundas station to TMU is an outrage. No Torontonian living anywhere in the city would stand for a subway station being named after a nearby landmark, whether they live on Museum Street, Union Boulevard, High Park Avenue, Pioneer Village Road, or Vaughan Metropolitan Centre Parkway.

me: I think I’ll go commit some bank fraud
giant eight-foot tall sign: DO NOT COMMIT BANK FRAUD
me: I’ve changed my mind, I won’t! Thanks, large sign that everyone obeys!

Even just reading the wikipedia summary of Seeing Things is enough to make it the ideal reboot to fulfill this dream.
I think if Canada wants to have a strong cultural identity we need to go back to doing what we're best at, making the weirdest fucking TV shows you've ever seen
