I know it's a point done to death but: if seatbelts were invented in 2025, there'd be riots in the streets to oppose them
(there genuinely were protests against seatbelt laws when they were introduced, but everyone who'd oppose them is louder and dumber now)

one of my longstanding takes is that car manufacturers should be forced to install mandatory speed limiters in every new vehicle and people react to that like I'm advocating to strip them of their right to free speech

Mine also include The Matrix, Blair Witch, and being way too stoned in Belgium when Fellowship of the Ring was sold out so we sat in the back row for Mulholland Drive instead.

It was hands-down one of the most memorable theater-going experiences I can remember, a collective 30-minute butt-clench/armrest-grab for the final climb. And we knew he lived! Wild.
