Hyped to have this Riveters/Steel City piece on the cover of the @pghcitypaper.com this week! It's a huge moment for women's soccer and soccer in the city of Pittsburgh. The potential is here to turn this opportunity into something bigger, I hope everyone takes it!

Horrific call. What's even the point of replay then?
cjcoreschi.bsky.social
Hearing some rumors about this that are crazy if true.

Nah, this is bog-standard for Bob. It's a 30-min lecture minimum after every single game. Makes waiting for the presser real fun.
cjcoreschi.bsky.social
Absolutely 100% speculation on my part - Bob is often hard on players. Not cruelly or out of malice, but he's a tough head coach who doesn't hold back. If someone filed a USLPA complaint after a spat, this would make sense as a standard practice move during an investigation.
cjcoreschi.bsky.social
Damn shame, you did incredible work there! Hope whatever's next for you is even better, friend!

I'd watch way more hockey if the Pens weren't on fucking SportsNet Pittsburgh. Literally the worst RSN. How are you not on Hulu or YouTube TV? Hate this garbage.

The corporate overlords who own mass media are so desperate to shove the non-existent "need" for AI down our throats because they're so deeply leveraged and need an ROI that they absolutely must push its adoption.

Good on David Simon for saying "fuck that."

SHAPIRO: OK, so you've spent your career creating television without Al, and I could imagine today you thinking, boy, I wish I had had that tool to solve those thorny problems...
SIMON: What?
SHAPIRO: ...Or saying...
SIMON: You imagine that?
SHAPIRO: ...Boy, if that had existed, it would have screwed me over.
SIMON: I don't think Al can remotely challenge what writers do at a fundamentally creative level.
SHAPIRO: But if you're trying to transition from scene five to scene six, and you're stuck with that transition, you could imagine plugging that portion of the script into an Al and say, give me 10 ideas for how to transition this.
SIMON: I'd rather put a gun in my mouth.

Winning in the USL — a league built on parity — is no easy task.

Winning year after year? That’s a mark reserved for the Championship's best-run clubs.

The secrets of sustained success in the USL: How the best clubs stay on top
Even in a league defined by parity, a well-run team can rise above the rest. Here’s how.

Glad the Yankees season ended yesterday in disappointment (as I knew it would, this was not a WS team). Just in time for the Islanders season to begin today (surely also in disappointment).

You will also be pleased to hear that they have an insanely easy transfer process for your Goodreads data into @thestorygraph.com so you can bring it with you! It's under Manage Account but I think you're prompted on set-up.
cjcoreschi.bsky.social
And additionally to stop using Amazon-owned Goodreads and start using @thestorygraph.com instead. Because it's flat out better.

Friendly reminder to stop using Amazon and use @bookshop.org instead. Support your local bookstores.

Jeff Bezos might have built a spaceship, but indie bookstores build and nurture whole communities and that is *way* more impressive and valuable.

I've gotten confirmation of this - Argentina vs. Puerto Rico is being relocated OUT of Chicago due to ongoing upheaval caused by ICE, National Guard.

Albiceleste will stay in Leo Messi's backyard (metaphorically) for both of this month's matches

Mailbox: Event promoters say that the friendly between Argentina and Puerto Rico for Oct 13 has been moved to Ft. Lauderdale for 10/14

No notice on socials or website from promoters or AFA.

Tickets remain on sale at pretty astronomical prices on Ticketmaster's website

The Armada are being sold, so I've heard! Palmer is out, pretty big change there.
cjcoreschi.bsky.social
Jacksonville Armada *may* have been sold. Alternatively, Palmer could've just set up an LLC to manage the club. It's unclear, we'll have to wait for official word or a close source to confirm that.

Bad Bunny is the 12th most-streamed Spotify artist *in the WORLD*. And his most streamed song is a heartbreaking, bittersweet song about love, loss, and cherishing time with loved ones.

Mike Johnson is a racist piece of shit.

lmao this dolt is beyond parody.
yeah Lee Greenwood, totally appealing to all audiences. you nailed it buddy
“Lee Greenwood for Super Bowl halftime show!” says the idiot

"The culture" is the base fight for women's equality. It's the pushing forward for non-white and LGBTQ+ people, culture, and representation that drives so much of this league. What kind of horrific, internalized misogyny drives someone to devalue that? Just disgusting.
cjcoreschi.bsky.social
Side bar to the stopping for the World Cup point:

This is a disgusting thing to say. 1) I would probably not choose to use "high-profile, sexy thing" to describe my women's soccer league if I was Berman. 2) "Strip away the culture" for pure profit greed is abhorrent, conservative bullshit.
cjcoreschi.bsky.social
And in no small part due to Palmer's absenteeism! I'd be shocked if he sold, but maybe it's not so crazy. They're supposed to go pro in MLS Next Pro in 2026, but there hasn't been a peep out of them...

Six in soccer-specific venues, sorry! Just Birmingham and St. Louis are not!
cjcoreschi.bsky.social
Historic Crew Stadium is a current venue - MLSNP's Crew 2 play there still.

Additionally, Birmingham Stallions are sharing Protective Stadium with USL's Birmingham Legion. So really *seven* of the eight are sharing with pro soccer teams - five in soccer-specific venues!
