Figured I should make a thread collecting my doily posts.

These are all knit by me, mostly from designs by Herbert Niebling, a prolific designer from the early 20th century.

Check out his Wikipedia page (which I also created!) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Herbert...

It should be very very clear to everyone right now that the Attorney General was asked under oath if she possesses pics of the President with undressed teens and she refused to say “no.”

Not a single lie detected in anything that Zelda Williams said.

(And no, it doesn't matter how much you loved her dad and his work. Leave her the fuck alone, and keep your parasocial bullshit to yourself.)
Batman with an angry expression on his face as he snaps a rifle in half with his own two hands as he says "This is the weapon of the enemy. We do not need it. We will not use it," in a panel from the comic book series BATMAN: THE DARK KNIGHT RETURNS.

The panel is used in a meme in which "A.I." is written in large white text on the barrel of the rifle, and on the butt of the rifle is smaller white text that reads "Even if you use A.I. to make fun of it."

Damn. This is amazing. £325 per week, paid monthly, for 3 years - and the result was a profit for the Irish economy:

Post from Threads user rodneyowl: "Ireland has declared the Basic Income for Artists scheme permanent. This will be officially announced in tomorrow’s budget. Details to follow. Congratulations to all who fought for it and the present and future artists of all sorts in Ireland. That includes me 👌We’re just comin to the end of a 3 year pilot scheme. It’s been a roaring success. For every €1 paid out to the 2000 participants, the government got €1.46 back. Can’t argue with that. Other countries are already taking note."

And I just… we could do this. We could afford to do this, as a country. There is no good fucking reason why we cannot do this. We simply choose not to because we believe that Jesus loves billionaires more than loser slothful creative people

Great example of the use-an-entire-phrase-as-a-word phenomenon.

Took me a couple of reads to parse this one!

The mystery of medical diagnosis!
Anyone: Why are there suddenly so many AHDH diagnoses?
Dr. Jen: Same reason there are suddenly more stars after we built telescopes.

One thing that comes through awfully clearly in these ICE videos is how many of these goons gravitated toward the job because being able to assault people with impunity is a big thrill for them.

I mean, “no living persons on the stamps or the money” is not that obscure! It’s one of the “we’re not a monarchy” signals. (Or a dictatorship, which is just monarchy with fewer manners and less of a pedigree.)

Jane Goodall was my first childhood hero, as I loved animals as a kid and was inspired by her story. I still remember the National Geographic specials about her. RIP.

Commentary from outlets saying it’s necessary for a president to have Irish yet never reporting on the Gaeltacht housing crisis or underinvestment into the language is giving tokenism. You want a president who can perform Irishness, not a president who platforms language rights

I have learnt today that my library refers to me as 'the specific and highly active user' and has denied some of my purchase requests because 'we can't skew the collection too much toward the taste of the specific and highly active user.
I did suggest roughly 100 vampire books for purchase last year. I think this probably has something to do with that.

One reblog from dragon-in-a-fez, Sep 20.
OP is there any particular reason the librarians would feel safer not invoking you by name

Am I the only one who pronounces "quixotic" as /kiˈɑtɪk/ ?

I just watched a video where someone kept pronouncing it /kwɪkˈsɑtɪk/ and I was irritated.

But then I looked it up, and apparently I'm the wrong one! Wiktionary calls my preferred pronunciation "rare"

But...it comes from "Don Quixote" !!
