While the reference to "human" seems a bit out of place, the truth is that Disney characters are just people, not really anthropomorphic animals in the same way as Bugs Bunny.
It's why Mickey and Minnie aren't depicted as cheese-obsessed. It also explains the dichotomy between Goofy and Pluto.

I remember reading one of my multiple Far Side compilation books as a kid and the foreword from Larson had him mention that this one, when colorized and published, inexplicably had the singing penguin colored yellow and thus changing/ruining the joke entirely
