This has been enabled by a society that encourages people to believe the idea that white supremacy is somehow transgressive rather than hegemonic.

I told people the other day that we here in MN were hitting a wall and could really use a pep talk and some extra care and kindness. Today is a bit brighter, but it's still needed.

This is a thing you can do that is free. The other night I read some (& cried some more). It means a lot.
if you’re feeling inspired by the photos from minneapolis, drop a note of appreciation at www.standwithminnesota.com/send-a-love-... !
I want to format these all into beautiful things to be shared across the internet, but until I have the time for it, if you are from Minnesota and need to know that people love you and have your back, that you are inspiring people all over the world, here are some notes.

I’m not much for religion but if I were, if a line of clergy flew in to freezing weather to line up and oppose me while singing songs of faith, I might be thinking “are we the baddies?”

This is not materially different from Josef Mengele. The concept is to deliberately expose people to serious harm so you can gather more data on what you already know will hurt them. It's not some big coincidence the Nuremberg Code expressly prohibits everything resembling this kind of "science."
RFK Jr. appointee Kirk Milhoan has just clearly stated, out loud, that he wants to experiment on the people of the United States by seeing what happens as vaccination coverage plummets and infectious diseases spread.

It is -13 right now the wind chill is going down to -45 as a proud daughter of Chicago that's weather I wouldn't want to be out in and yet Minneapolis marches. It is one of the most impressive things I have ever seen in my entire life

Moreover, ICE must be destroyed
Happening now: a large group of mostly clergy — primarily local faith leaders, some not — are staging an anti-ICE protest at the Minneapolis airport.

Someone should ask Walz, Frey, et al why they are sending cops to arrest clergy instead of protecting 5 year olds from ICE
As clergy pray, arrests begin

It's funny watching DHS post this stuff as if it'll garner sympathy for ice/bp agents rather than make most people think "amazing".
Not exaggerating when I say that the collective action in Minnesota will be studied for generations if not centuries to come

Clergy arrests are powerful symbolism and the clergy that deploy that symbolism are usually very conscious of that.

Priests aren't required to wear collars all day every day, it's a deliberate choice when they're in clerical apparel

NEW: Planned welfare reform could see big benefit cuts for disabled people who can't work, Citizens Advice has warned

The government wants to replace long-term ESA disability benefits with a new, much more time-limited benefit called Unemployment Insurance (UI) www.bigissue.com/news/social-...
Disabled people could face benefit cuts – even if they cannot work
Long-term claimants of employment and support allowance could be moved over to a new, time-limited disability benefit – equating to cuts.

Welcome to the UK, where today transphobe Tanni Grey-Thompson, transphobe Sharron Davies and transphobe Toby Young have all taken their place in the House of Lords, where they’ll get to help decide our laws until they die, at our expense. Makes you sick, doesn’t it?
