Washington, D.C. - Today, House Speaker Mike Johnson blamed the peaceful No Kings Day of Action on October 18 for the ongoing government shutdown. After a few moments of laughter, the No Kings coalition issued the following statement:

A No Kings event just got listed in Framingham, my local friends, but it only starts at 4:30 pm on 10/18. For those of us with chronic illnesses like long covid, this might be too cold, so I’ll probably go to Natick center (27 & 135) from 11 - 1. (I’ll try to go to both, though!)

And definitely, after you spend the time and effort researching your local elections, share what you found in every way possible: on social media, tell friends, fam, neighbors. Hell, make a sign and stick it in your yard! (Here’s a sign I made to make sure my neighbors know about NoKings!

My handmade sign, posted at the edge of my yard, written in sharpie in white foam core, and affixed to the ground via one of the metal frames I had from my countless Harris yard signs. It reads: No Kings October 18th, Natick, 27 & 135, 11 AM - 1 PM, www.nokings.org and includes a drawing of a crown with a red x throughout it.

This is a great resource! I just got my local ballot and like always, I’ll research candidates for library board by checking out their social media. This article has info on right-wing buzzwords and dog whistles, plus a link to a site where we can see the candidates past political donations. 📌👇🏼
