“Any politician who seriously doubts that the current US government could use AWS, Azure, and Google as a political lever is deceiving themselves and the public. … If Europe doesn't finally get moving, the AWS outage was just a mild breeze compared to what the old world can predictably expect.”
Comment on the total outage at AWS: Learned nothing in the last 30 years
After the recent AWS outage, multi-cloud is supposedly the answer. But that's misleading – US dependency is the core problem, argues Martin Loschwitz.

Most people in NI are really not surprised by the Soldier F outcome - but this was no show trial or witch hunt. The judge excoriated the soldiers' conduct, but because of a passing of time caused by extreme state failings, could not convict. That is the scandal. These headlines are grotesque:
Yankification continues on a proposal that salaries should be transparent, on radio a supposed corporate worker claiming he shouldn't know what colleagues earn because it would affect the bosses ability and workers might get lazy #speirgorm

Metsola seems to suggest that, because the European Council has said so, Parliament will have no choice but to push through the omnibus with votes from the far right after Wednesday’s failed vote. This is a worrying stance and a puzzling view of the EP’s relationship with EU leaders

And let us be clear: the judge said the Parachute Regiment murdered people and lied about it, in roughly as many words.

Because of delay and lies, it couldn’t be proven to the criminal standard which individuals murdered; but those troops murdered and lied.

Terrifying. An Associated Press investigation found more than 420 bills attacking longstanding public health protections such as vaccines, milk safety and fluoride have been introduced in statehouses across the US so far this year. Around 30 bills in 12 states have already been enacted or adopted.
Cashless bail?! Seriously?! How are the courts not taking these people seriously!

As we await a verdict in the trial of Soldier F, another reminder that in 2010 the Bloody Sunday inquiry found

- the killings were unjustified
- none of the 14 dead (7 of whom were children) had guns
- no warnings were given
- no soldiers were under threat
- the troops were the first to open fire
I'm sure this will be on our 6-1 news right? #speirgorm

No justice. Utterly disgusted for the Bloody Sunday families. An obscene decision and a dark day.

So angry for the Bloody Sunday families and the people of Derry. Absolutely no justice in this at all.

And we're now platforming two people claim the Gardai caused the violence "pepper sprayed old people". I've been at protest where that could have been claimed but this we have videos of missiles being fired first!
Constantly having to tell them they can't talk about an ongoing court case #speirgorm
Am I hearing right on the radio from Mirror Crime correspondent 'Not everyone there was there to do violence', come on. I'm sure people protesting before might not be violent thugs but you know if you were going down on night 2 of a riot you are there to do harm #speirgorm

Let me get this straight:

The EU will NOT gain its independence by giving up on its only super power, that is the exercise of regulatory autonomy on behalf of 27 independent nations, be it on climate, digital or defense.

This is self inflicted damage upon US demand.

Ireland disinformation update:

Reddit locked down one of the most-used parts of its platform in Ireland (r/ireland, claiming 1.2m members) due to what moderators called a “wave of new and inactive accounts spreading disinformation and hate speech connected to recent events.”

When the system operator needs to buy energy to balance the grid close to delivery, how does the price of batteries compare with gas?

Here’s the comparison for GB in September 2025.

Average battery accepted offers were £33/MWh cheaper than gas, reducing costs for consumers.
Like most a bit tired of all the debates so only saw bits.
I have a genuine question but would the electorate really reject someone who said 'yea I made a mistake there'?
Instead we get roundabout justifications. Surely we're not expecting our leaders to be infallible? #Aras25 #speirgorm
