"Mrs Agnew's first language is BSL.

Upon arrival at hospital, she typed her request for an interpreter on her phone.

But the receptionist asked, 'What is a BSL interpreter?', Mrs Agnew said."

I can understand clarifying BSL, but what access is being provided when unfamiliar with the options?

Turkey day is fast approaching, which means families all over the country are gathering to "give thanks". This year, I challenge you all to call out your MAGA relatives and hold them accountable for their apathy, their bigotry and their hate.

Don't give them a pass "for the holidays".

We can do away with it without a new Supreme Court. Nor do we need a constitutional amendment. There’s a far simpler way to get rid of Citizens United. Let me explain. https://robertreich.substack.com/p/how-to-get-rid-of-citizens-united

The numbers shouldn't even matter. The Serious People know that vaccines are good. If you believe otherwise, you are excused from the conversation and responsibility to govern. Go play make believe- we have stuff to do.
Anti-vaccine sentiment is now a load-bearing plank in the Republican platform.

Democrats haven’t budged on the need for school vaccine requirements since 2019—86% agree with them then and now.

Republicans have consumed so much disinformation that their support has declined from 79% to 52%.

When people ask me if I miss the US, my answer is friends and spicy food anytime.

I realized this week I'd often be traveling, cooking with a partner, or generally spending quality time. Here- it's just another week. Class tomorrow, no days off.

It's cool, but different.

If meal prepping or recipe curation is your thing, the Paprika app is having its annual 50% sale through the rest of the month.

Reviews are stellar. Do note: when you purchase, it's per device. If you browse recipes on your laptop, but want the app when you're shopping, that's 2 purchases.

I have to write an author bio (50 words max) and my first thought was simply "...is That Dude."

I do not believe Pras deserves 14 years, but if your lawyer uses AI during closing arguments, someone is going away for something.

I want my brownies thicc, dense af. When you pick it up you are surprised at the heft and your fingers are wet after having one. If they are low-key mistaken for fudge, I'm not mad.
(If your brownies got the consistency of cornbread, there’s a problem)

At some point, people have to say no. That's not all they must do, but it can start with that.

No, I will not do that.
Well, this is chilling AF.

Hilariously, I just had a reviewer recommend a rejection of my paper because I used an ethically and gender diverse sample, in a study that showed that an LLM was biased against women and people of color. I guess they wanted me to use a group of white men to illustrate the bias?

I was definitely about to miss my train tomorrow. Recalled the time for the second one, but not the first. I would have showed up a solid 4 hours late!

The part where they threatened to break a judge’s car windows should be a bigger story … they feel comfortable treating judges this way, which means they are being told that they can do literally anything to nearly everyone

Ya know what, treat everything coming from official US government channels as poor propaganda, doublespeak, intentionally deceptive, or ignorant. So...a bit more nakedly obvious than before.
This is completely disgusting. Today, the CDC updated their vaccine safety page. It now says:

“The claim "vaccines do not cause autism" is not an evidence-based claim because studies have not ruled out the possibility that infant vaccines cause autism”.
