If the US ever gets around to abolishing ICE, I hope everyone doesn't get to put in for a transfer for another federal position.

We'll all face repercussions; we must ensure consequences.

AOC: I want everybody to understand that the cuts to your health care are what’s paying for this. You get screwed over to pay a bunch of thugs in the street that are shooting mothers in the face.

Not mine! And, moreover, you have to have 9 credit hours in the current + 2 previous semesters, rolling.

Spring - 3 credits; Summer - 3 credits; you're ready to defend in the fall, so you want 1 credit... nope. That's only 7 so you have to take 3 for compliance. Think I did 1, 7, 1.
Hey academic friends!

If you are at an institution where the graduate tuition is reduced once students finish classes, can you (drop me a message, raise your hand, sing a little song... whatever you want :D)

My TikTok in the US shows more nonsense and sponsored ads than while in France. And somehow I ended up on the "Star Trek was never political" side. Whewboy. I knew these dolts existed, but they thankfully haven't been in my space.

I'll always have a zero-tolerance policy to white kids not knowing shit.

If my ancestors were deemed old enough at birth to be subject to slavery, this white kid ain't gonna be hurt learning his ancestors were responsible for it.

Great last day of the writing retreat with @stemhands.bsky.social! I arrived with 3 goals, knowing the last would be a stretch; I knocked off 2, gave some feedback, watched the Bills pull off a nailbiter, and absolutely dominated in gin rummy! Worthwhile weekend!

It’s infuriating to see so many Democrats saying things like, “ICE needs more training,“ and “ICE needs to cooperate with local law enforcement.“

It’s not about training and it’s not about cooperation. It’s about the fucking fascism you blinkered fools.

They should be leery of foreign influence.
“Uruguay did what most nations still call impossible: it built a power grid that runs almost entirely on renewables—at half the cost of fossil fuels. The physicist who led that transformation says the same playbook could work anywhere—if governments have the courage to change the rules.”

Some university systems want to force instructors to make all syllabi public & thus likely subjected to this exact kind of "AI" enacted automated surveillance. Because of woke.

No but seriously they're genuinely terrified of having their small, petty worldview challenged by ppl learning new things.

WSJ investigation: In the past 6 months ICE agents have fired at vehicles 13 times, leading to:

* 8 people shot
* 5 of which were U.S. citizens
* 2 died
* no victims drew a weapon

The playbook: Agents box in a vehicle, block attempts to flee, then fire

It's incredibly demoralizing to constantly see the highest institutions of government and academia and the most important and widely seen news outlets knuckle under one after another, but then to see the gulf between that and the bravery of communities and neighbors and teachers - that's something

It's a new year, and I am begging y'all to put captions on your streams. Don't know how? I got you.

Here's a thread of captioning options for your streams. With the exception of Meld that does not have a caption plug in (yet). These should work on other stream software.

Thread 🧵.
Here’s a comment for the people who are upset that MN hasn’t charged Jonathan Ross already:

If you just Leeeroy Jenkins this shit you will lose and you will empower fascism and murder.

It is indescribably hard to prosecute cops for murder. It is even hard when the murder is ON VIDEO.

There is no polite way to get someone's foot off your neck. And that should never be the expectation.
Some advice for the "protest the right way" crowd from Person of Interest S5:E10:

"...we're not going to win this way, and we can't afford to lose... And I know this is an ugliness you never wanted, but sometimes you have to fight a little."
