Something adorable and heartwarming I needed to share from the Fediverse.

I also want to say that I am so honored that this book, which I co-wrote with @prisonculture.bsky.social, was shared in this space. We wrote this book for moments like this one, and for people like the folks who are showing up to learn and act together in Chicago right now.

I donated some copies of Let This Radicalize You for distribution at an ICE watch training for folks who want to join school patrols in a nearby neighborhood. Not everyone got a copy, because 120 people showed up for that training tonight. I am endlessly proud of Chicago.
A display of copies of Let This Radicalize You on a table in front of a sign that reads: "Let This Radicalize You offers stories, strategy and heart for the kind of collective care and resistance we're building together today. It helps us move from reacting to organizing. Showing how ordinary people protect each other, build power, and keep hope alive. Take a copy. Read it. Stay connected."

Seeing someone debate if Trump has brought "peace to the middle east".

No.

No, you absolute moron.

Peace in the Middle East doesn't mean brokering a ceasefire for the latest genocide after supporting a genocide and almost 80 years of massacres, genocide and apartheid.

a lot of people are finally waking up to the importance of the 3rd amendment. As a 3A absolutist, i think it should be illegal for soldiers to be quartered anywhere in this country. they should be camping under the open sky at all times. all military bases and barracks are unconstitutional.

Insurrection and communization by whom? The party of anarchy, which unites all peripheralities in the seizure and overthrow of the centrality.

The transition between a condition of peripherality to centrality is, I think, the core of the revolutionary project. The solution by which can only be solved by means of insurrection and communization.

Namely, guerrillas in boondocks and dual power in cities, leftist organizations, etc. all exist as peripheral projects while the centrality of society is taken by state, capital, patriarchy, etc.

While alternative institutions are great and all, a really big weakness in dual power strategy and prefiguration is the peripherality/centrality problem, something I'm actively theorizing on.

"What else is left on the path to full-blown authoritarianism?" Good question! Maybe THIS helps answer it: bsky.app/profile/mske...

So much for "not backing down".

"Impeccable moral compass?" "Unwavering courage to stand up to bullies and hold the powerful accountable?"

Letitia James ceded ground to Trump's framing of the narrative on the 2020 George Floyd Uprising.

ICE raided entire neighborhoods with the help of STATE POLICE (i.e. Pritzker's brownshirts). The National Guard will be there to join them.

0n our podcast, JB Pritzker just told me that the California National Guard has now been seen on the ground in Illinois.

Our interview with Pritzker is running first thing tomorrow morning. Tune in!

For over a century, Libertarians and anarchists have been endlessly bringing up how this was a titanic threat to liberty and relying upon "norms" to not use it was insane.

The time to get rid of this shit was the Whisky Rebellion, and then immediately afterward, and then immediately after that...
sharonk.bsky.social
as Goldsmith points out, it's kind of insane no one thought that reigning this in during the Biden years was a good idea:
Now consider the much more robust Insurrection Act. That “Act” (it is really the product of several statutes enacted mainly over the course of the nineteenth century) provides, in relevant part and with emphasis added, the following:

10 U.S.C. §252. Use of militia and armed forces to enforce Federal authority

Whenever the President considers that unlawful obstructions, combinations, or assemblages, . . . make it impracticable to enforce the laws of the United States in any State by the ordinary course of judicial proceedings, he may call into Federal service such of the militia of any State, and use such of the armed forces, as he considers necessary to enforce those laws or to suppress the rebellion.

10 U.S.C. §253. Interference with State and Federal law

The President, by using the militia or the armed forces, or both, or by any other means, shall take such measures as he considers necessary to suppress, in a State, any insurrection, domestic violence, unlawful combination, or conspiracy, if it—

(1) so hinders the execution of the laws of that State, and of the United States within the State, that any part or class of its people is deprived of a right, privilege, immunity, or protection named in the Constitution and secured by law, and the constituted authorities of that State are unable, fail, or refuse to protect that right, privilege, or immunity, or to give that protection; or

(2) opposes or obstructs the execution of the laws of the United States or impedes the course of justice under those laws.

The italicized portions here make plain why Bob and I once concluded that the Insurrection Act is “a dangerous, centuries-old federal statute that authorizes the president, with few restraints, to deploy the U.S. military inside the United States to suppress threats the president perceives to the constitutional order.” The power authorized here is astounding.

Looking forward to the Sacramento Anarchist Bookfair this Saturday...

If you're also attending, be sure to say hello if you see me!

I'll be making the rounds to distribute some free stickers and literature (including my zines on spotting fascism and using the ALERTA reporting method). 👍🏴
An assortment of stickers that - top to bottom, left to right - read:

- "Fuck the King" (with a picture of The Hound from 'Game of Thrones')

- "The Spectre Returns" (with the silhouette of an individual in Black Bloc over a black and red star)

- the Antifascist Action emblem

- "Bash the Fash" (with a stick-figure comrade with a club chasing a stick-figure Nazi shaped like a hakenkreuz)

- "This Machine Kills Fascists"

...as well as an EFF pamphlet about data safety during protests and a stack of "business" cards. Two bundles of pocket-size zines in stands; "A.L.E.R.T.A." and "14 Ways To Spot Fascism".

TIL California's Gov. Code article on disqualifications for office contains this section ranting about the clear and present danger of the "world-wide revolutionary movement to establish a totalitarian dictatorship" based on the precepts of communism.

leginfo.legislature.ca.gov/faces/codes_....
There is a clear and present danger, which the Legislature of the State of California finds is great and imminent, that in order to advance the program, policies and objectives of the world communism movement, communist organizations in the State of California and their members will engage in concerted effort to hamper, restrict, interfere with, impede, or nullify the efforts of the State and the public agencies of the State to comply with and enforce the laws of the State of California and their members will infiltrate and seek employment by the State and its public agencies.

Some words for this Monday:

"Columbus Day" honors the man who committed the genocide, so that's off the table.

"Indigenous People's Day", while well-intentioned, is too vague to capture the exact moment this day refers to.

I think it's only right that we call it "Taino Genocide Remembrance Day".
