To what degree distinguishing attraction to children in various states of development is useful in sexology, they should have classified it as 'pedophilia type A', 'pedophilia type B', etc, instead of giving the job to Ray Blanchard

Perhaps flying to Florida and shaking hands with 55 doctors from around the country wasn't amazing. The stress from that work trip has left me sick. I never get sick. That tells you how stressful I found it.

This is why it never really made sense to primary DeGette from the left. Just because she's been there a while does not make her a problem. We have far more centrist congress members in Colorado.
ICYMI: Rep. Diana DeGette is the only Dem in Congress from CO who is for "dismantling" ICE.

U.S. Sens. Michael Bennet & John Hickenlooper and Reps. Brittany Pettersen, Joe Neguse & Jason Crow are for reforming the agency.

The Texas Senate race has them alarmed.
Trump: "These people were brought to our country to vote, & they vote illegally. The Republicans should say, we should take over the voting in at least 15 places. The Republicans ought to nationalize the voting. We have states that I won that show I didn't win. You're gonna see something in Georgia"

This is an extremely small thing, but why the hell do they all write like that? All of their emails have such poor sentence structure and diction. These are elite, educated men who email like two 12 year olds texting.
"tired of some of their admiration for [insert lefty or left-leaning political and cultural figure]" explains a solid three-quarters of the last decade of american politics

The irrational hatred of Stancil *has* to stem from a kind of jealousy that he has a bit of a following, a bit of a platform, ran for something, and in general, is trying in a way the online activists are not. It's a crab bucket trying to tear back down anyone who rises above.
folks I have discovered an incredible new variant of internet communist
I would rather not waste resources on bailing out selfish rogues who have a fetish for getting arrested.

Yes, for sure, let's ensure nobody knows what's happening on the streets of Minneapolis.
I’m not totally sure how to address this but apparently I’m getting kicked out of ICE rapid response for the moment because I’m allowing press ridealongs, with an extremely strict condition that no other observer be identified. Lots of observers have allowed ridealongs and they benefit us.

Alex Pretti, the man killed by federal agents today in Minneapolis, appears to have been a registered nurse, an athlete, a son and a brother, with ties to Colorado and Wisconsin.

Here is a photo he used for several accounts.

Imo what happened here is they thought that Kirk was actually the youth whisperer and all the young soft R support was because of people who loved him personally

Turns out that group are allergic to solemnity (esp when forced) and immediately turned his death into a big joke
books about this era are going to heavily feature the failed Horst Wesseling of Kirk. it was the first place where the regime wanted something, got elite buy-in, and it blew up in their face
just thinking again about how MAGA’s attempt to suppress all criticism of Charlie Kirk created a backlash so intense that he is now probably the most abjectly Internet-defiled person in human history

This is instantly top 3 scandals for this Administration. The constitution is clear on this matter, there is no grey area. Todd Lyons needs to be hauled in front of congress and removed. Can you impeach an "acting" official?
In a sign of how explosive ICE knew this secret memo would be, one whistleblower says he was only allowed to read the memo and was barred from taking written notes, and warned that employees had been punished for disagreeing.

At least one ICE instructor resigned rather than teach the illegal memo!

This is just so craven to make a decision based on denying the power to democrats. Either the president has the power or doesn't not, "we must guard against a democratic administration using this power."
Oh man, Kav quotes his confirmation hearing, says if they side with Trump here, "what goes around comes around" and the next Dem President will go ahead and fire the whole board.

Kav doesn't care about that for any other agency. But he clearly cares about the Fed's independence.

This is what I think may also doom the Tariffs, as Roberts recognizes in order to crush liberal democracy, enact repressive cultural norms, and empower unfettered business, the chaos and personalism of the tariffs is destabilizing that must stop.
The Chief’s every move is predicated on his understanding that Republicans created the Roberts Court to rule our country. When he moves a majority against Trump, that’s not moderation. It’s a recognition that Trump’s become a liability Roberts’s project to perpetuate Republican power.

This reminds me of Talarico's Ezra Klein interview talking about how the winning message needs to be love and respect and understanding for the rural whites that want me lynched in the street.
Doing this unironically for 20 years as the country implodes into fascism and then turning around and lecturing us about how we don’t know what “real” voters care about.

Remember when SCOTUS said there was probably no harm in allowing DOGE unfettered access to SSA data? Some dingleberries were uploading your SSA data to 3rd party internet servers for election deniers to comb through looking for "fraud."

Trump doesn't have the grip strength to undo a binder clip, and finds himself distracted during a press conference by the event while the rest of the western world prepares for a potential war with the US. Hitler is in the bunker picking out his drapes.
Trump: "Whoo. I'm glad my finger wasn't in that sucker. That could've dome some damage but you know what? I wouldn't have shown the pain. I would've gone back. Boy did you hear that? That was nasty. But I would not have shown the pain. I would've acted like nothing happens as my finger fell off."

I'm sure this won't end in absolute disaster 5 years from now after the unsustainable greed and sloppy practices in the name of profit and vice collapse the industry into a black hole trying to economically suck everything else in with it.
for those not following along, Coinbase was the one that killed a markup hearing that was originally scheduled for this week
Yesterday, Coinbase withdrew its support for the crypto market structure bill. Hours later, the Senate Banking Committee canceled the markup hearing. They’re not even trying to pretend anymore that this bill isn’t written by the industry, for the industry.

Tina Peters is currently eating ice cream at mar-a-lago free because Trump issued an official pardon, right? Even for red states, cancelling elections is beyond the pale. They have laws dictating elections and when they are held. Greg Abbott can't just issue an EO to cancel Texas' elections.
set aside whether it is legal or not. what do you think an executive order is, and what do you think the relationship of the president is to a governor or state secretary of state is? do you think the president is their boss?
I think my question is, if he issues an executive order cancelling the election, even if it isn't legal, if a bucketful of states comply on some level, what impact would that have on the overall election. Can it theoretically just be sandbagged by a handful of intransigent states?
