Everyone else saying that, yes, they have nothing to fear from a democratic majority, that is probably true, but they did just turn down a chance to strike down gay rights, so maybe there is something too far for Roberts to think they can get away with yet.
Do they just think there'll never be enough of a backlash for court packing to happen? What is the political theory of the case?

Generally agree, after all, using specials in 2024 was extremely flawed in predicting the 2024 November election.
One thing though is that this wasn't a low turnout election by US standards, it almost reaches midterm level turnout after being nationalized, and we still get such an overperformance.
