I’m sure the growing Nick Fuentesization of the Republican Party’s war on women will be dismissed as “alarmist” by the same people who said Roe wouldn’t be overturned or that “concentration camps” weren’t going to happen.
On this week's @strictscrutiny.bsky.social episode, @leahlitman.bsky.social, @kateshaw.bsky.social, and I discussed the new Heritage Foundation plan to return women to home and hearth. Apparently, this guy is all in on it.

Great stuff from @anatosaurus.bsky.social on today's pod, including her idea that blue areas are being terrorized by a "MAGA Murder Regime." We discuss how ICE is not functioning as law enforcement in any remotely recognizable sense, and how the public has figured this out:

Last week, we reported that Elon Musk was likely violating US sanctions by allowing Iranian leaders to pay for blue checkmarks.

X quietly removed the checkmarks and now Iranian lawmakers are pissed because parody accounts are impersonating them

My solo, uniquely mine belief: we can learn *a lot* of new and useful information if we review what we already have - and run basic tests on everything within reach. 🤓

That's how they (accidentally) discovered the immortal jellyfish - or that platypuses glow in UV light. 😮
Two decades after a small Duke breast cancer vaccine trial, every participant is still alive — a rare outcome for metastatic disease. When researchers looked closer, they found the women’s immune systems still carried “memory” cells that recognised the cancer. buff.ly/MNeRhJh

Couple people really got upset with me for criticizing console price raises, just like they did when games got bumped up to $80.

Stop doing corporate PR for free.
Fuck anyone defending hardware price raises. I know you just *have* to go to bat for Nintendo constantly, but laying this at the feet of tariffs and AI, as if that’s not cover for something corporations wanted to do anyway, is off base.

Yeah, both those things are awful, but corpos gonna corpo.

This is fucking despicable. They’re copypasting their abuse of trans people onto new targets now (and many of the same targets, given how much overlap there is).

I had to fight for a shared care agreement with the ADHD meds that I fucking need to function. Taking them from anyone is beyond cruel.

I feel like we've all lost sight of the fact of the sheer magnitude of the failure of Putin's latest offensive, i.e. the one that began in 2024—mainly because it's been so baked into the day-to-day.

Far and away the least successful offensive we've seen in not just years, but decades.

Again, if you went to Ars Technica to find out what the hell happened you'd get nothing but a terse apology for something they won't specify.

Horrible in general, but good for Talarico in particular. Why are they so scared of a youth pastor who says the minority America needs to worry about is the richest 1%?
“[James Talarico] was supposed to be here, but we were told in no uncertain terms by our network’s lawyers, who called us directly, that we could not have him on the broadcast,” Colbert said.
Stephen Colbert blasted Brendan Carr after FCC scrutiny led CBS to pull an interview with Texas State Rep James Talarico. Instead, 'The Late Show' posted it to YouTube.

People don’t realise how massive the impact on people’s personal expression - and overall freedoms - will be, with previously affordable tech being hogged by AI / data centers. The billionaires’ cretinification of society is going according to plan.
A really funny game to play now if you upgraded your PC in the last few years is to check the price of equivalent components now. The RAM I paid £279 for in 2024 is now £1059 on the same store lmao
