If you've never seen this special, by all means, watch this. It's just the best damn thing ever. And that's the case even if you're not obsessed with old-timey shit like I am (but it totally helps). bsky.app/profile/papa...
Good news: If you would like to watch Ricky Jay and His 52 Assistants on YouTube I have done a painstaking 4k upscale of this. www.youtube.com/watch?v=x0gW...

Please stop using language that suggests that people with criminal records are appropriate targets for this administration's violence. One in three adults has a criminal record. Stop playing sacrifice games with fascists. Stop surrendering entire categories of people in your own mind.

Absolutely correct. So much of the discourse around restoring trust in the institutions is focused on decorum and civility theater. But why would anyone trust the institutions if, after the horror show that we are suffering through, they yet again fail to impose some measure of real accountability?
Something the US needs to accept too is that without a large-scale correction imposing consequences on a large number of people, the crisis of governance here will continue indefinitely

As I read this, I'm thinking about the man I interviewed who had to be hospitalized from the Covid he caught at the poultry processing plant and he got fired for it and he still has long Covid
During the height of the pandemic, Tyson used Palantir to predict Covid-19 infections among meatpacking workers down to a nearly exactly figure. But rather than using this data to increase worker protections, Tyson used it plan for labor shortages + plant closures

“Maybe this is the risk of being married,” suggested the defense attorney for a man who was acquitted on trial in 1979 for raping his wife (and who later was sentenced for another rape.) No paywall:

New York Times social media guidelines prohibit expression suggesting partiality on things like ICE, execution of foreigners in fishing boats, or whether law is a thing.

However, tipping off notorious serial pedophiles about other reporters is absolutely fine.

Rep. Adelita Grijalva has officially signed the discharge petition to force a vote on the Massie-Khanna bill to release the Epstein files. That's 218, meaning House GOP leaders cannot block it from the floor. (That's 214 Dems + Massie, MTG, Mace, Boebert.)

Catalina “Xóchitl” Santiago spent nearly two months in ICE detention—despite having protection under DACA—until a federal judge ruled that the government had no reason to keep her in custody and ordered her release.

DHS is still vowing to "explore every available option to remove" her. My latest:

Immigrants brought here as children were told they wouldn’t be deported. Now, they’re being targeted anyway.

Today's a great day for those with GOP Members of Congress to ask them when they plan to either (a) demand Trump's resignation for being deeply involved in a pedophilia ring; or (b) explain why they don't believe that being deeply involved in a pedophilia ring requires a president's resignation.

Alderman Sigcho-Lopez was right to call out Pritzker today about the state police arresting protesters. Pritzker responded that the state police are protecting protesters, and that just isn't true. State cops have arrested and brutalized protesters to facilitate ICE operations. That's reality.
