I appreciate @thewaroncars.bsky.social’s dedication to localizing the content of their presentations. Didn’t even have to scroll up to the top of this thread know they must be in Vancouver today, I’d recognize that photo anywhere.

Whoa! Due to high demand, our bookseller at our Vancouver show sold out of books. Our apologies to folks who wanted one but didn't get one. More will be available at Pulp Fiction Books, so head over there to pick up Life After Cars. And thank you to everyone who came tonight! What a great city.

The whole city loves fountains, lovely public art that makes splashing noisies
*5 seconds later*
We regret to inform you that those public fountains were turned off because they don't recirculate and waste a fuckton of drinking water during summer droughts

We will be a poorer city because of Ken Sim’s simplistic ideas of what economies and civic life can be. He’s just a tool of penny chasing millionaires who have nothing to contribute but whining.
Sources at the city tell CTV News that cuts to positions that review development permits, bylaws and rezoning applications could impact project timelines.

ABC ran on a platform of improving operational efficiency, but they seem to just step on a rake every time it comes to execution and make problems worse

Vancouver just closed its pool because it's crumbling and will have budget cuts and a bigger police force instead.
North Van's shipyard district is probably the best public space in the region, and I think it's awesome they're taking another big swing. Other Metro Van cities should be watching and learning

I don’t know much about the other races but from Mandami’s it was also a win against Democrat leadership, and that’s something to celebrate.
i closed out my column this week with this preemptive jab at basically every commentator currently looking for ways to say that last night didn’t count

lol big time loser energy, Barry.
President Obama called Zohran Mamdani on Saturday — praising his campaign and offering to be a "sounding board" into the future.
Obama said he was invested in Mamdani's success beyond the election on Tuesday.
"Your campaign has been impressive to watch," Obama told Mamdani.
