Tonight we saw Charles Dickens Begrudgingly Performs A Christmas Carol Again at Theater Wit, and it was truly fantastic. Funny and irreverent, but also deeply moving… honestly, possibly the best interpretation of A Christmas Carol I’ve ever seen. Highly recommended.

This is a good idea! Here are some of my favorites I bought from Bandcamp this year…

Remember on Bandcamp you can listen for free a couple times and see if you like it.
I don't use Spotify but today is #BandcampFriday and that means a great opportunity to talk about some albums I have loved this year, all of which I bought through Bandcamp - and you could too!

While we are talking about pie, this is a good time to mention that several years ago I wrote up my pie recipe and technique as a recipe comic.

Pecan pie is divisive? We used to serve it every Thanksgiving and everyone agreed it tasted like 12 orgasms.

Oh god, are we old, is that it?
I think Pecan Pie is one of those things that is divisive now because it’s just a blob of sugar with nuts on it but to someone 150 years ago who ate shoes it was probably like having 12 orgasms at once

GenAI has polluted image search results, especially for animal pics. It’s now basically impossible to find accurate art references.

Enter this: a repository of open-access, AI-free images of wild & exotic taxa. Artists creating *without AI* have blanket permission for derivative/transformative use.

I saw Wicked part 2 last night. I never did see the stage show but I read the book, which is completely different. COMPLETELY different. And normally I’d be very THE BOOK WASN’T LIKE THIS but the whole point of the book was to upend the canon of the Oz books. Like, I cannot hold this text sacred.

I was just in the gym locker room and heard this really terrible cover of Dolly Parton’s “Nine to Five”. It was so terrible! Absolutely bloodless. I’m not trying to be a gatekeeper or anything but in this particular case I would advocate for jail time.

Using a dishwasher rather than hand washing can save you nine days of personal time over the course of a year.
Friendly reminder that dishwashers made after 1995 or so are so water and energy efficient that even if you ran them twice fully loaded it would still use less water than handwashing the same load.

So many "green" things feel like sacrifices. Dishwashers are not one of them.
