"Mamdani's victory is less significant than you think. It will change nothing about how we write about anything at the NYT."
They should also hang the Biden portrait in there he refuses to have up.
Democrats will stop talking about needing to move towards the center, maybe when there is nothing left of the party. Y'all been tryin' that for the last 20 years. It's been a losing game(and sucks).

Maybe try actually supporting what working folks need? Like, the massive majority of Americans?

Concerning, bc it indicates that the extent of the concentration of power in the hands of a few hyperscalers is way less widely understood than I’d assumed. Which bodes poorly for our ability to craft reality-based strategies capable of contesting this concentration & solving the real problem. 2/

Everyone seems allergic to the word, but Charlie Kirk was not an activist, he was a propagandist. Turning Point was a meme factory backed by a billionaire designed to steer kids towards Christian Nationalism. He didn’t advocate for policy; he spun narratives to change beliefs. Propaganda.

Via @stateline.org: An Aug. 1 jobs report that enraged President Donald Trump showed the United States had 258,000 fewer jobs than initially reported in May and June. It was the smallest monthly job gains since pandemic-era December 2020 and the largest jobs revision, outside recessions, since 1968.

I wonder if a good 3/4 of those did it intentionally so they'll get confused folks registered thinking they are going to the other AI Summit.
I had to look up what the FBI's jurisdiction even is to see how far outside of it they are going as a tool for Trump. Literally not a crime.
I mean, I was public system through and through, even at university level. And I have, since adulthood and I got my clearer eyes, held an incredible amount of skepticism for our structured US education systems.

But I don't know, man. It feels extra bleak right now?
I have kids. They will be college age eventually(very much in spite of this hellscape). We are saving for college.

At what point is this going to be a total waste because the institutions are all bending over and making terrible, autonomy reducing deals?

If the (wildly popular) governor of Kentucky can say this with his whole chest then what excuse does the (wildly unpopular) governor of California have?

I did an event in DC & there was a party for donors etc after. Was talking to 2 ppl & I said "Things are so bad." They said "No this is how it is. Things swing one way, then another. It's normal."

That's when I realized why Dems are toothless. They have no idea what this is. Frogs boiling in water.
Okay, so if you won't tolerate violence, what are you going to do when it comes(unsurprisingly) from your cops or the military sent in?

Yeah, that's what I thought.
California Gov. Gavin Newsom has called Trump’s recent actions “deranged” and said he is endangering lives.
By contrast, fellow Gov. Spencer Cox praised Trump for sending military forces into Los Angeles.
