Yet again more evidence for why Left wing Policy is Fiscally Responsible and why the Right have incoherent Politics
“In Finland, the number of homeless people has fallen sharply. Those affected receive a small apartment & counselling with no preconditions. 4 out of 5 people affected make their way back into a stable life. And all this is CHEAPER than accepting homelessness.”

It costs a lot less to house people.

Probably still a better way to improve reliability than whatever SDOT is doing

Although we disagree with the conclusions from SDOT's traffic study, its traffic counts were very eye-opening:
• Over 3 times as many people use Denny Way to access areas east of I-5 than to access I-5 S
• Of the people continuing east, 35% do so in a car, 34% in a Route 8 bus, and 31% on foot
SDOT has updated their post about Denny Way bus lanes and have uploaded the full traffic study, which you can read below.

In short, it's a 516 page document that does not mention mode shift or alternate routing a single time.

👀 "An entire lane of solo drivers on Denny Way between Seattle Center and I-4 can fit into one articulated Route 8 bus, and a dedicated transit lane would allow that bus to be over four times faster than driving along this section"

Cars just don't scale well, especially in dense cities.

A common excuse we hear for SDOT's refusal to install bus lanes on Denny is that WSDOT could be opposing them. However, @juliareedwa.bsky.social checked, and WSDOT is “unconcerned” about potential impacts to I-5 traffic. The state’s ready to talk bus lanes on Denny, lets get them built!

A reminder that if violent crime in Seattle was not currently dropping, militarizing our streets would still be inappropriate and a bad idea.
Washington state does not need or want the president to militarize our streets.

Violent crime in Seattle and across Washington state is dropping.

Listening to Bruce Harrell on the campaign trail, you'd never know that traffic fatalities in Seattle have actually increased during his term as whole and that last year was the deadliest year on city roads in decades.
Bruce Harrell: "When...I won the job, we still lived in a city by which cars are fighting with bikes and bikes are perhaps competing with transit, and people looked at the different forms of transportation and they didn't talk to each other very well."

The city of seattle has a great transit system that includes 105 bus routes and a light rail system that connects you throughout the city
In coordination with the City of Seattle, travelers may encounter off-ramp closures on NB & SB I-5 (mainline and the express lanes) and NB & SB SR 99 today (10/18).

Good evening. We estimate that between 4.2 and 7.6 million people turned out for the No Kings Day demonstrations held around the country on Saturday. This makes Oct 18 very likely the biggest single-day U.S. protest event since 1970. www.gelliottmorris.com/p/second-no-...

Advocates got nearly half a billion dollars into the levy above and beyond what Harrell wanted (which Harrell now wants to take credit for).
Bruce Harrell would have been happiest with a $1.1B inflation-adjusted continuation of the previous levy. Advocates pushed internally to get it to $1.35B and then publicly to $1.55B, with a 2:1 vote in favor.
We shouldve had neither and only had Bicycles and Streetcars, horses suck they shit everywhere
