This one is especially for the teachers who are teaching the week of Thanksgiving.

#VehicleChat for Google Slides.

A seriously silly conversation, perfect before a holiday.

Sized for the young ones in your life.

Colors and sleeve lengths vary a bit from the prototype this young mathematician is wearing, but the joy is the same!

I would like to notice and appreciate the service that @davidkbutler.bsky.social provides in reposting his own beautiful poetic observations of everyday life at times that make them readily available to time zones on the other side of the planet. I see you, friend!

Twitter accounts are based in Russia. BlueSky accounts are based in homes with, frankly, too many books, plants, obsolete cables, and pieces of rustic pottery, that could do with a bit of a tidying up, to be honest.

Culture & Identity in the Math Classroom

How do elements of the culture students bring into the classroom interact with the classroom culture we create? What does it mean to shift or honor them?
Culture & Identity in the Math Classroom
How do elements of the culture students bring into the classroom interact with the classroom culture we create? What does it mean to shift or honor them? Earlier this week, I watched the first session in TERC's Forum for Equity in Elementary Mathematics series '25-'26. Dr. Pam Seda spoke about "Culturally Relevant Math Tasks: When What You Teach Connects to Who They Are."

Listen to Christy Pettis and Terry Wyberg talk about making connections between whole numbers and fractions! The conversation shed light on the way a simple routine can help kids build bridges between whole numbers and fractions. www.mathlearningcenter.org/blog/case-ch...

Adventures in non commutative arithmetic
Trying so hard not to pass my disdain of legacy curriculum publishers onto my kid, but y'all make it so hard when your little online program marks a PARTIAL PRODUCTS problem wrong because he didn't list them in the order you wanted him to. 😒

A SQUARE IS A SHAPE, YET ONLY HALF OF SHAPES ARE SQUARES
Are all squares one square or many squares because i think we're dealing with the same infinities then and there actually is a 1-1 count of squares and shapes. [I will see myself out]

I would also like to propose a ban on anyone who thought an internet-connected teddy bear would be a good idea. And on anyone who facilitated their manufacture or distribution. Y’all can no longer work in tech or toys.
I feel like a ban on internet-connected teddy bears should be a pretty easy legislative move. No need to define AI or anything. Just no teddy bears that connect to the internet in any way.

We can work on other stuffed creatures and dolls and all the rest later on. Let's take the easy win on internet-connected teddy bears.

You with me @amyklobuchar.com @smith.senate.gov?

I crossed the street in order to pass by them.
