There hasn't been enough of a look back at agencies that have seen significant attrition during Trump's assault on the federal workforce. Today we do that with a profile on those who departed the VA health care system, many of them vets themselves. The system is struggling to survive.
How Trump Put Veteran Care in Crisis - The American Prospect
Thousands of staff have left the health care side of the Department of Veterans Affairs, and those who remain are approaching burnout.

If I were a journalist I would care much more about engagement with my story then about mean replies. There's ample data showing clickthrough rates are higher on BlueSky then X. BlueSky folks love to hate read.

This post is essentially just saying the Nazis are nicer to me and that's what matters.
This is a good example of why I find Bluesky exhausting and not worth cross posting. You could write a piece that carefully lays out the evidence, and the first (and 2nd-4th) replies are Big Mad that you didn't just write the piece they wanted. X has its problems — many, many problems — but ...
Well look at that.

If only the media had reported realistically about the economy in 2024, would we even be in this position?

But bothsides, amirite?

The Atlantic’s essay about a child’s measles death was gut-wrenching.

Some readers felt deceived when they learned the family in question wasn’t real, the scenario a hypothetical.

Some critics and physicians said Elizabeth Bruenig’s account of a mother confronting a child’s death from measles felt misleading once they learned the story was reported fiction.

Chuck Schumer spectacularly failed the “vote blue no matter who” test and should be hounded from office
I believe Stancil here, but to honor the skepticism some on the left have about this, i think it's fair to note that Chuck Schumer failed this test
When you say "vote blue no matter who" these guys always say "oh ho ho, but what if it was Lina Khan, would you vote blue THEN?"

And the answer is "yes"? Very obviously? Was "vote blue no matter who" unclear?

This is not a group of people who dislikes Democratic voters and ideas. This is a group of people who dislike the leadership of the party— *because* they hate Trump far more.

this is exactly why I am absolutely not willing to overlook anyone who was once “advocating for ending USAID” as merely committing a little oopsie-daisy-booboo, by the way
The Project 2025 author is using millions of dollars in USAID money for his own security detail.

It is estimated that 762,000 people have *already died* as a result of Elon Musk and Russell Vought’s obscene murder of USAID, including more than 500,000 children.

Vought is a mass murderer.

Elimination of emissions standards was one of the pretty clear policy stakes of the 2024 election and it received about 1% as much coverage as whether Tim Walz retiring from the national guard after 21 years was cowardly.
“The U.S. no longer has emission standards of any meaning,” said Margo T. Oge, who served as the E.P.A.’s top vehicle emissions regulator under three presidents and has since advised both automakers and environmental groups…
