I don't like to talk about stories before they are fully reported, but I am writing on ICE in a Minnesota town that isn't Minneapolis. However bad you think it is, it is worse. It is a campaign of pure terror whose only strategic goal is more terror. There is no strategy other than to break people.

The Epstein emails should really end the debate over whether society should have billionaires. "Do you want there to be a class of people so powerful they can fuck your kids and no one will even try to do anything" seems like an easy sell if everyone in politics wasn't trying to get on their payroll

I again, repeating myself, ad infinitum, still do not understand how Trump mocking a disabled reporter on camera at a rally in I dunno, 2015 wasn't enough of a red flag to get him cancelled by the media permanently and have his Apprentice shows taken off the air

It should have ended RIGHT THERE.

Yes and when we said "you don't really give a shit about free speech" to them, they were SO OFFENDED but we were right - they didn't. They just wanted to use slurs and maintain their white privilege.
They said "free speech" and "academic freedom" but never believed in either and now in texas you need a permission slip to mention race in class and they're fine with it. Might not have worked if people with large platforms weren't furious about marginal increases of black people in their offices

it’s not necessarily that all these people in the epstein files participated in the raping of girls it’s that none of them cared and if he hadn’t been arrested and died they’d still be out there trying to be his friend

Never let anyone tell you this was unforeseeable. I was a teenager when DHS was created and I remember the memes (though we didn’t call them that yet) about “homeland security” being a Nazi term. Plenty of people knew at the time that DHS was a bad, dangerous, and unamerican idea.
I voted against the establishment of the Department of Homeland Security and I was pleased to speak with Ta-Nehisi Coates @VanityFair about the mood surrounding that debate.

For any elected official who needs to hear this, I impart a lesson learned from the NFL:

When the other team is tired and on the back foot, you don’t call a timeout so they can catch their breath. You grind their fucking face into the dirt until the final whistle blows and you’ve won the game.
