I was looking into the 2008 plea deal and whenever Epstein's lawyer wanted more and Costa said no, he would just call Washington to get a better deal. (W. Bush was in power in 2007)

Yeah.

Every single email from Acosto or A. Marie Villafaña, the lead federal prosecutor who helped negotiate a controversial plea deal for accused sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein in 2007 is interesting.

Last I dealt with process equipment intended for dealing with sour gas, it was a year of lead time between finalizing the order and shipping it.
I don’t know Abqaiq, but if it’s at all the main facility for this it’d be incredibly expensive to replace in five years if it’s even possible.

And common. Also common: blaming the girls and women this network of pedophiles abused. The men are not held to account, unless convenient within their hierarchy.

Untested rape kits. No body autonomy. ERA blocked for decades. Pretty clear who society protects.

Oh snap! I hope this is public! I love watching rich people sweat and then lie.
There’s a lot to investigate and report on from today’s stunning deposition of Les Wexner. But here’s something I can’t get over.

I asked Mr. Wexner if the DOJ or FBI ever contacted him to ask him about Epstein and his crimes. He said NO. That’s outrageous and unforgivable.

yeah. short of twitter shutting down entirely, almost every single prediction of failure made when musk was firing everyone has come to pass. it just turns out that twitter power users value their network and racism more than a functional product
people did predict this! Apparently twitter had a reasonably complicated pre-docker setup that would be annoying for anyone to port

1. DHS surges 3,000 officers to Minneapolis without doing anywhere near enough prep first.
2. Hundreds of habeas cases overwhelm local courts.
3. Dozens of DOJ lawyers quit in disgust/anger.
4. The DOJ brings in JAGs to cover.
5. A JAG was just held in contempt and fined $500/day for ICE's failures.

Wait. What kind of regime beats up investigative reporters again?
"An Associated Press reporter was beaten by the police and detained along with three other journalists on Tuesday in Cameroon while reporting on a secretive Trump administration program to deport migrants to the Central African country, according to two of the people detained." (gift link)

"since she did not memorialize the abuse in writing when it happened to her, as early as age 13"

Funny thing: when you punch a girl you just sexually abused in the head and say "I'll kill your whole family if you tell anyone", they tend not to come forward.
NEWS: The FBI interviewed an Epstein victim who accused Trump of sexually assaulting her when she was underage not once — but at least FOUR times. But the document that shows those additional interviews appears to have been deleted from the DOJ website. substack.com/home/post/p-...
DOJ Removed Record of Multiple FBI Interviews with Underage Trump Accuser, Epstein Data Shows
The FBI spoke at least four times with a woman who credibly accused Trump of sexually assaulting her when she was a minor, Epstein files show. That document is no longer accessible on the DOJ website.

Thousands of institutions abandoned programs, ended or rewrote scholarships, closed down clubs and publications, all in pre-emptive compliance.

And you know why?

Mostly because they wanted to do it if they thought they could blame someone else for it.

closing the strait of hormuz is kinda a "welps that was a mess, we got it reopened (dragged out that wreckage...), stuff is moving again" problem.

abqaiq is a facility in saudi that ~85% of their oil has to pass through. it's a complex desulfurization plant. How long would it take to rebuild that.
people think iran closing the strait is their main threat but it's actually flattening the facilities at abqaiq

propaganda works. I suspect it probably works better on people who think they're immune to it

The first few years of my career from 2016-2019 were basically all focused on advocating for GENDA to be passed in NY. A lot of my work was focused on housing and employment discrimination. I had no idea trans people could even compete in sports until 2020. It was not a thing we were pushing at all.

The ultimate problem here is that there's an entire class of political pundits like this who have cooked their brains on X and get their entire view of trans rights advocacy through an explicitly right wing framing, a result that was the explicit goal of Elon buying and manipulating the platform.
