this store is 18+ and they’re strict as hell about it. none of this has ever been about “protecting children,” it’s about trying to force trans people to disappear
After a boutique on South Street received a warning letter from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for selling breast binders for gender-affirming care, the region’s transgender community worries about the potential wider impacts.

Never have small acts of human creativity mattered so much. Paint, draw, put on a play, write a song, learn an instrument, write a story (or a book!). The worst thing you ever make will be better than all this slop.

If you want to discover new music, journalism is key. You can also chat with record store staff. If you like an album, find out the label & follow them. See who's getting booked at venues where you're into the vibe. Algos will only give you more of the same. Discovery should expand your taste.
despite its numerous faults, it seems like a lot of people are afraid of fully unplugging from spotify because they'll miss out on music discovery. that's a role that music journalism can and should be filling.
