The majority of organizing happening in Minnesota isn’t just peaceful, it’s INVISIBLE. Moms showing up who won’t be interviewed on TV, people whose ICE patrols don’t turn into viral video. The grocery runs, the donations, the people filming bc they happen to be there. Please remember this.

Theodor Meron survived the Holocaust, found refuge in Israel, helped set up the ICC, then aged 93 indicted Benjamin Netanyahu for war crimes. He stands by his decision.

Minnesota National Guard members have arrived at a federal building and were directed to distribute donuts, coffee, and hot chocolate to anti-ICE protesters. Guard members were issued reflective vests so they would not be mistaken for federal agents.

It would, in other words, take more masked goons than are currently in the Twin Cities to station five apiece at all the locations in Philadelphia. I’m all for dooming, but you do have to account for the sheer size of this country and the reality of counter-goon organizing when doing it.
There are 690 separate polling locations, for 1703 voting divisions, in the City of Philadelphia. And Pennsylvania law specifies that LEOs cannot be within 100 feet of the entrance to a polling location unless (a) they're there to vote or (b) have been asked to come in to break up a fight.

We don’t have a federal system, where state govt’s have separate sovereign powers, so that the governors of those states can plead with the President to call off his death squads.

Extrajudicial killing is simply murder. Murder is a crime in Minnesota. The State of Minnesota can—MUST—address it.
I just spoke with the White House after another horrific shooting by federal agents this morning. Minnesota has had it. This is sickening.

The President must end this operation. Pull the thousands of violent, untrained officers out of Minnesota. Now.

Which twitch boomer shooter streamer will be the first to call for a cod boycott?
I am watching what is happening in Minneapolis on Ali Velshi and one of the ICE officers (off camera) literally says, “It’s like Call of Duty. Pretty cool huh?” as they shoot whatever it is they are shooting. Agents walking around, guns unholstered for no reason. This is insanity

Two women trained as first responders were abducted by three ICE agents. One of the agents starts seizing. The other two don’t know what to do. The women jump into action and save the agent’s life, only to be re-handcuffed and processed.

I am not being snarky. I need my colleagues who wrote on covid school lockdowns to engage with this. To be as loud as they have been about prior "learning loss." Hell, you can cite Tom & Mark's AERJ paper so you feel better that there's some econ somewhere in your argument.

Today is the day. Right now hundreds of Minnesota businesses and institutions are shut down. Thousands of people are refusing to work. There’s a massive picket at the airport. Minnesota’s resistance to ICE today is changing the tenor our fight against fascism.

Was thinking about why I get pulled to play games when there’s longer term and more mysterious things I’d really rather be doing (music, mainly) and it’s definitely this.

Playing trombone is much harder than playing Dogpile.
Video games are either about skill testing or fantasy indulgence and there is no greater fantasy than having control of your life

I've talked to people on the ground about the strike here tomorrow, and the single thing everyone brings up is just how shockingly wide the support for the strike is. Businesses that no one would have expected to support it are doing so.
National media should really be covering the fact thay every major school, museum, and arts institution in the Twin Cities, and hundreds of local businesses are closed tomorrow to protest federal occupation.

Nothing like this at this scale has happened anywhere in America anytime in living memory.
