The utility of genAI—whether it can actually perform the task at hand—is irrelevant and OSS ultimately a trap to bother talking about it.

There is literally no amount of usefulness it can add that could make it worthwhile. None. Willing users are either ignorant or willfully choosing massive harm.

A group of friends and I (about 25 people) have been running a self-hosted Mattermost instance for a while, because it was a good open-source alternative to Slack.

We updated the server to the latest version a couple of days ago, only to hit a 10000-message limit.

Is Matrix good?

Pretty disappointed in both @humblebundle.com and especially in @girlswhocode.bsky.social. Please teach girls how to code, don't push them into generative AI. That won't build their skills. Prioritize foundational programming skills and awaken their interest. "Tired of long days writing code"???

To all the fucking special “creative” cunts who can’t stop whining about all the “boring” “unnecessary” work they have to do in their art: should I send you a fucking invoice for all the time I had to sink into opposing your AI shite, instead of just doing my work, work that I actually fucking love?

The paradox of our times: everybody in software talks about how “AI” ramps up productivity by an order of magnitude

Meanwhile the software I follow, the platforms I keep track of, and the releases I follow keep the same pace as before except buggier, less usable, and more prone to catastrophe

If AI can't even reduce crunch on a dumb commercial, what is the point
McDonald's has released an AI-generated Christmas ad

The studio behind it says they 'hardly slept' for several weeks while writing AI prompts and refining the shots — 'AI didn't make this film. We did'

A highly experienced beginner. Ellyse Cedeno took us through her journey with getting into hardware using Nerves after many years of Elixir development.

No reason to be afraid of NervesConf EU. Keep an eye out for more from Ellyse, she is awesome.

Not a big surprise to be honest. I have myself started to consider moving away due to to all the recent bugs and quality regressions. Sad to see something so good, become so bad in such short time.

Hey @bsky.app @safety.bsky.app @support.bsky.team please unsuspend Goran immediately.

Goran is a great person, a great artist, and the whole anti-Palestine thing youre on is one of those "Ford funding Hitler" disasters you remember being shocked and dismayed by when you learned of in middle school.

I see a lot of folks attack AI generated work on the grounds of quality - and true, right now the quality just isn't there in most cases.

But even if it were perfect I still wouldn't want it in any media I engage with.

I care about artists more than art.
