Kotzebue residents are under a mandatory evacuation due to an oncoming storm surge. Residents who believe they are safe in home are asked to stay in place, but many are being asked to move to higher ground/more inland. Residents needing help evacuating need to call the KPD dispatch. #Alaska #AKLife

Painting this 3” x 3” mini portrait was a delight. I have a few spots left for customs available! Plus some premades of the team and linocut prints.

A powerful fall storm hitting a swath of Alaska’s coast triggered evacuations in several communities including Kotzebue, where officials urged residents to relocate to a shelter before conditions worsened.

This is the stuff that I find scariest, the way the delivery of truth is being distorted — not just via social media, but via the forms of media that people assume have ethics. Lately I’ve seen many times that even many progressive ppl aren’t aware of what’s been happening to larger legacy media.

The Post laid off seemingly the remaining of their liberal-leaning staff members on Opinion last Thursday, when some of them were observing Yom Kippur.

Yeah, not good for Alaska or Alaskans, especially the poor Native Alaskans whose communities will be adversely affected.

If a misdemeanour in another country is reason enough to arrest and deport someone, then surely 34 felonies and multiple assault charges in your own country should stop you from being president of it.

One might think.
If one thought.

Not more shocking to me, but I believe what they are doing to immigrants, both legal and illegal, is inhumane, unconstitutional, and unconscionable. More shocking that they’d attack a pastor in that manner.
revdaniel.bsky.social
While I agree with the sentiment of the post and believe it’s absolutely terrible that this pastor was pepper sprayed…I can’t help wondering, is it more shocking because it’s a white Christian man?

For many Americans, it is.
And that is the problem.

I feel like this photo of masked, armed men pepper spraying a pastor protecting his community is going to be a defining picture of this moment in America for a long, long time.

Pretty terrifying thought when you consider that there will most likely be toxins in the rock that contains the mineral. The transport vehicles will need to be covered. And what about accidents? Who will respond? I believe we only have two hazmat agencies in the state, though ARRC may have one.

It’s going to be massively expensive to maintain and will most likely affect caribou migration due to road height. I doubt they’ll build in migration tunnels underneath. Also ASBESTOS!!!

Jessica Tarlov: I'm stunned that Republicans want to draw attention to this because... the senators who were part of this investigation are not just random names that he picked off a list, but people who were named in Jack Smith's charging documents for trying to turn over a free and fair election.

I would be shocked if most Essential Air Service flights continued. The only ones air carriers will keep are the ones that pay for themselves already.
wandrme.paxex.aero
US DOT warns airlines it might not be able to pay them for EAS operations after Sunday. Carriers can operate the flights at risk, with a promise of eventually maybe being paid back under whatever terms the new budget offers.

Cool to have a multi-year contract the other party can just kill.
By this Notice, the U.S. Department of Transportation (the Department) provides notice of a
potential future shortfall of appropriated funding for Essential Air Service (EAS) contracts and
Alternate Essential Air Service (AEAS) grants. Should a prolonged government-wide lapse in
appropriations last beyond October 12, 2025, the Department will relieve air carriers of their
obligations under EAS contracts, and will suspend reimbursement under AEAS grants,
beginning on October 13, 2025, until such time as appropriated funding is restored, and full
budgetary authority is reinstated.
