Maybe they should have asked disabled people, brown people, refugees, essential immigrant workers (who are leaving), full time workers who have to use food banks, trans people, 4.5mn kids in poverty, peaceful protesters.

Instead they just asked the baffled white middle class who can afford the FT.
Glad the FT is asking the question. Even if I’m not convinced they found a compelling answer.
I get that Starmer & Reeves are unpopular, I really don’t understand the extent of the dislike.

People are rightly disgusted by this speech, but it’s a measure of fascism’s normalization that many see this as more of the awful same rather than what I think most of us who’ve been reporting this beat hear it as: a significant calculated escalation. Full alert stuff.
JD Vance gets the biggest applause of his speech so far when he says "by the grace of God we always will be a Christian nation"

As a long-time campaigner for publicly owned railways and the proud owner of a very well-worn @bringbackbritishrail.org t-shirt, I am excited to vote for #GreatBritishRailways in public hands today 🛤️🙌

But as @sianberry just said in the Commons debate - shall we do the actual trains next?! 🚆

The NHS is under pressure to adopt Palantir software. Its founder openly despises the NHS.

You can push back: use our tool to see if your local trust is using the software, then send an email to say no to Palantir

This, and they’re *children*. Children don’t care what their friends are, they only care that they’re friends. There was never any danger. It was always a confidence building space.

All they’ve done is tell bullies that it’s okay to pick on someone for what they are.
Note how these awful people are getting exactly the exclusions of children that they demanded and *that still isn’t enough for them*: they demand everyone be delighted about it and kiss their arses for being brilliant.

Contact us if you have been affected by the policy changes of Girl Guiding or the Women's Institute. This could be as an individual, or because you lead a local Brownie group who don't want this policy change. We want to help protect trans inclusion.

We're watching the wholesale burning of every scrap of dignity afforded to trans people in the UK, their rights, their medical services, their employment, their place within society, their bodily functions.

It is a disgrace, and a disgusting stain on the government and media of this country.

I had no idea Julian Cole passed away. He was brutalised by officers from Bedfordshire police and spent the the rest of his life needing 24hr care. The police paid a settlement to his family but never accepted liability. He was just a kid.

Sure, they've made an environmentally catastrophic mass hallucination disinformation plagiarism Clippy that will destabilize the world, but also their other goal is to replace human workers entirely and let us humans starve. A boycott of AI is the most important boycott of your entire life.
"All of this falls apart if humans don't adopt the tech. This is why you've seen Meta cram its lame chatbots into WhatsApp and Instagram. This is why Notepad and Paint now have useless Copilot buttons on Windows. This is why Google Gemini wants to "help you" read and reply to your emails."
Analysis: OpenAI is a loss-making machine, how can it survive?
Don't call it a bubble! Loss-making monster OpenAI is on the hook for $1.4 trillion (with a T) in compute commitments. How can this go on?

Migration policy is being driven by fear of Reform not by rational thought

'a fall in net migration of 300,000 a year would increase deficit by c. £20bn'

We will all feel poorer and Reform will just find another group to blame this on

Labour need to find the courage to take on the racist rhetoric

Labour's anti-asylum policies are already fundamentally inhumane and discriminatory. Applying them retrospectively is pure cruelty though. It serves absolutely no purpose. Meanwhile it will increase the costs and bureaucracy of an already dysfunctional Home Office.

It's infuriating to see so much of the media give Kruger the same kid gloves treatment that Rees-Mogg used to get because he is posh and polite and able to wrap his bigotry in enough intellectual tissue paper to make it seem like a political philosophy rather than an expression of white supremacy.
Reform are so dangerous and this headline doesn’t do it justice. I also think a piece like this should start with the politician‘s core views just to emphasise the urgency.

A Government of cowards.

Rather than tackle inequality - they've gone for pensioners, disabled people and now it's people fleeing war and persecution.

They can't get away with this.

Labour were broken a long time ago.

Time to replace them with a party that actually represents everyone - not just the billionaires.

A party that rejects Reform - rather than copies them.

Time to make hope normal again.

For every social problem, there is a tried & tested, valid, workable, long-term solution.

It just depends on people being willing to spend more money than they’d prefer, and being less judgmental of others than they seem to like.
