I'm even confused what the complaint from Elon is here. That writeup is accurate and unbiased. It is *simply true* that "the gesture was compared to a Nazi salute." The writeup isn't even taking a side. It's pointing out that people did compare it to such a salute. It also includes his denial.

The whole wave of bro-energy from Musk, Trump, Zuckerberg et al. can be seen as a counterreaction to attacks on male identity. Shame has been used as a tool to make people adhere to new models of gender identities, and it has backlashed. It is depressingly predictable.

Ideally, all politicians using superlatives should be viewed wtih skepticism. It shows a lack of willingness or ability to present well-balanced arguments, and a lack of respect for voters' intellectual integrity. Arguments can be simple without being deceiving.

Using a position of influence to denounce people who display intolerance comes with a cost, in the sense of contributing to dividing people into groups of "good" and "bad". Taking a "moral highground" is no excuse for contributing to division.
