I've lost 40-ish pounds and my joint pain is exactly the same. From everything every doctor and busy body has said I should be pain free.

Weird. Maybe the weight gain was a symptom of the pain and not vice versa!
I had a point where walking left me in enormous pain. I went to one doctor whose main answer was "stop being fat" and just...didn't ask anyone else about it for a long time.

I tried so many things.

Dear fellow middle aged white women,

We're well known as cunts. And we deserve that title, as a whole. Let's fuck up ICE. Let's be cunty for good. Instead of calling the cops on your neighbors for having a party, film ICE.

I've recreated the Entenmann's Devil's Food Cake.I've been trying to do this for years with a bunch of different marshmallow frosting recipes. The frosting was always a little off.Too fluffy and light and the flavor just wasn't there.
Swiss merengue buttercream. Not traditional marshmallow frosting.

I'm 41. Can't wait for the 4th-ish "once in a lifetime" economic crash of my life.
It’s funny to look back at the 2008 Financial Crisis (I was 17 at the time) because we’re literally seeing the same things happen again right now with AI. Living in the US is so FUCKED.

"piss christ got milkshake ducked" is a brand new sentence
regret to inform everyone, piss christ got milkshake ducked
This is what male solidarity & collective action to oppress women looks like:

Artist Andres Serrano--successful, but nowhere near the same class as Thiel & other billionaires in the files--stating that he'll vote for Trump, despite his politics, out of *sympathy* with T's sexual assaults on women.

"What if one of YOUR favorite politicians/celebrities/etc is on the list?" Did you all not notice how quickly we dropped Neil Gaiman when we found out about the things he did? Do you know how beloved that guy used to be and how loathed he is now? I think that right there should answer your question.

NEW: The first two years of Massachusetts' millionaire tax has raised $3 billion more than expected.

And rather than driving the rich away, IPS researchers found that the number of millionaires has *increased.*

Tax the rich. Greg Ryan in @bloomberg.com:
Millionaire Tax That Inspired Mamdani Fuels $5.7 Billion Haul in Massachusetts
A millionaire levy in Massachusetts that New York City mayoral frontrunner Zohran Mamdani holds up as a model for taxing the rich has generated $3 billion more in revenue than expected without forcing...

Makes sense to me.
Why stay in a country that will not allow you medical care, guaranteed maternity leave, affordable child care, decent schools, or bodily autonomy?

If any country wanted middle aged, middle class Americans, I'd be there in a second.
"In 2025, 40% of women aged 15 to 44 say they would move abroad permanently if they had the opportunity. The current figure is four times higher than the 10% who shared this desire in 2014, when it was generally in line with other age and gender groups"

Something tells me it's more than wanderlust

It didn’t go far enough. It never went far enough.
Today is a good day to remember, and to say, that the #MeToo movement was right, and was righteous, and has been vindicated over and over again. There was no overreach. There was no excess. There was no they-went-too-far.

So much work remains to be done.

Part of my job is sending out emails every quarter to every project manager at work who has a federally funded project to remind them to do their MPRs and FFRs. This last quarter FEMA was inaccessible due to the shutdown. Their auto reminders sure do work, though!
PSA for people with NIH grant periods starting January 1st (including most NIGMS MIRAs): your RPPR is due Saturday, but they haven’t sent out the usual automated reminders, presumably due to the shutdown
