The Post Office is a service the government supplies to its citizens. Profit should not be the metric that is used to evaluate it. We do not ask police forces to turn a profit, even though there exist private security firms.
The USPS posting a NINE BILLION DOLLAR LOSS!!! sounds terrible. Certainly worse than if you said "USPS costs thirty dollars per person per year" even though that means the same thing and more accurately describes a government service

The DOJ released a memo--the day after World AIDS Day--ordering prisons to enable the rape of incarcerated trans women.

The State Department also banned recognition of World AIDS day.

Prison rape, on top of the lifelong trauma, often leads to HIV transmissions.

It's not hard to do the math.
BREAKING: Trump administration plans to end prison rape protections for trans & intersex people, memo says. A DOJ memo says certain standards under the Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) do not align with Trump’s Jan. 20 anti-trans executive order, @byadamrhodes.bsky.social reports.

Bring back "if you don't have anything nice to say don't say anything at all"
Something I’ve learned in the past few years is that “We all know what they’re thinking, honestly it would be better if they just said it out loud” is wrong and a terrible idea.
it is somewhat bleak that the cordon sanitaire on the right seems to have totally evaporated. stephen crowder had fuentes on just a day ago

A lotta good stuff here but this conclusion is off. The far right sells easy answers, not hard work. Studying hard and getting into college is gay, become rich by day trading instead - and blame immigrants if that doesn't work. You don't need to work on yourself to get laid - just blame feminism.

The subcategorization/tropefication of popular fiction has been very bad in general, both for authors and readers.
The death of browsing is part of the reason art is the way it is now. Our opinions are largely fed to us by algorithms. Spending a spare 15 minutes wandering around a bookstore or comic shop or video rental place was how you found stuff you wouldn't ordinarily pick up and thereby expanded your taste
Bookselling is like the most "people go to the store and buy what looks cool to them without a particular agenda" type business left, and your purchases have a huge influence on what is ordered, what is displayed, and what is recommended.
