Too Many Cooks is the truest piece of 21st century art, perfectly capturing the feeling of life now in all its seamless blending of reality & fiction, weirdness in the shape of normality, inescapable repetition, and looming existential terror gradually overtaking everything

I used to be able to keep these DAILY MEMOs to under 3 minutes, the last couple videos have been impossible to. ICE is escalating in Los Angeles, just look at the article version with every incident highlighted. This is only what we could confirm, only what we know of. @lataco.bsky.social

This article seems to completely overlook a key, alarming factor.

Trump apparently communicates w people in his admin via DMs on Truth Social — which, on top of being a site he owns, also likely has shitty security. I assume it def. violates the Records Act.

Zero respect for national security.
Excerpt from WSJ article.

Highlighted section:

On Sept. 20, Trump meant to send a private message to Attorney General Pam Bondi urging her to prosecute former FBI Director James Comey and his other favored targets, according to U.S. officials familiar with the matter. “We can’t delay any longer, it’s killing our reputation and credibility,” Trump wrote.

Trump believed he had sent Bondi the message directly, addressing it to “Pam,” and was surprised to learn it was public, the officials said. Bondi grew upset and called White House aides and Trump, who then agreed to send a second post praising Bondi as doing a “GREAT job.”

"Antifa has been around in various iterations for almost 100 years in some instances, going back to the Weimar Republic in Germany."

I have never ever ever understood why TV/pool reporters let people get away with this. Why is not there a follow of: you haven't followed the biggest story of the day, really? WTF are you doing? and...I'm going to interview your CoS/press people to see if they talked to you about it?

I love how Mike Johnson, the Speaker of the House and #2 in line for the presidency, is always like, “What? News?! I never read or hear anything that happens in the world, anywhere. I’m totally offline. What even is ‘social media’? They play news all day on TV!? Wow! That’s a surprise!”

Q: Do you agree that the mayor of Chicago and governor of Illinois should be in prison?

MIKE JOHNSON: Should they be in prison? I'm not the attorney general. I'm not following the day to day on that

feels like it should be a big deal that the president is directing the invasion of american cities based on what are almost certainly AI videos shown to him by his staff

maybe one of our ostensible news organizations could track down exactly what it is that he's seeing

The President of the United States is living in an alternate reality and it's long past time for media outlets to start talking about it.

We're beyond "Trump said without evidence." Trump is governing a world that only exists in his warped mind.

"We took freedom of speech away" should be in every campaign ad moving forward.

Trump: "We took the freedom of speech away because that's been through the courts and the courts said you have freedom of speech, but what has happened is when they burn a flag it agitates and irritates crowds."

The Speaker of the House has firm views that Bad Bunny is a terrible pick for singing at the Super Bowl, but hasn't had time to watch the President's speech to our military leadership or form an opinion whether furloughed federal workers should be paid or Illinois' governor should be thrown in jail.

The fact that they can't get a random sampling of citizens from any city to indict people for interfering with ICE seems more informative than any political poll, tbh

Mike Johnson’s position is young pregnant American women shouldn’t have to wait before being turned away to die in the parking lot from an ectopic pregnancy the hospital is afraid to treat

Mike Johnson: "If you're a young, pregnant American citizen women who shows up in an ER and you get treated and they pay the hospital less for treating you than some illegal rabble rouser who came in from some South American country to do us harm, that is wrong."
