Apart from everything else, invading a country for oil in 2026 is somewhat like doing so for horses in 1931.
“We can secure access to additional wealth and resources, allowing the country to unlock them without spilling American blood,” said U.S. Defense Secretary (Secretary of War) Pete Hegseth, highlighting the strategic and economic rationale behind the Venezuela operation.

Then look at the surface of Mars.

Then look up to the top right.

Spot Mars' moon Phobos high in the sky.

Then notice the bright spot beside Phobos.

That's Earth.

Just a reminder to folk visiting Edinburgh next year please try your best to boycott the Elephant House. It's gone from a nice normal cafe with views of the castle to a mad tourist trap with a giant picture of Jakey R on the wall. It's like if everything wrong with Edinburgh's tourism was a cafe

It's been a hell of a week but after a whirlwind adoption from the SSPCA, introducing Ziggy and Al. They're such beautiful boys and love each other almost as much as they love hugs. They're settling in so well and starting to explore more of our house. Today they saw a squirrel! 🐿️

For anyone else in Scotland receiving the Reform party's data gathering form and freepost envelope. Returning the envelope empty or with a nice note inside, rather than their form, is an excellent way of transferring money from their dodgy backers to the Royal Mail.

This is all so odd. I've no idea what @robinince.bsky.social has said/been saying that could be *that* controversial. Even if you disagree (which I don't), these views are well within the boundaries of mainstream opinion/Overton window. I don't see the problem. (1)
Having appeared on it three times, I can 100% confirm that @robinince.bsky.social *IS* the #InfiniteMonkeyCage.

Without him, it doesn’t even exist as a concept 🤷🏾‍♂️
I just want to say @robinince.bsky.social is the very best of humans. How the BBC could have a problem with him is beyond me. The IMC will wither on the vine without the rich, nutritious value of Robin's brain. Go see him perform, and buy all his books. Your soul will feel like it has been hugged.

But the good news is, by doing this, we defeated racism in the UK.
Government has now - belatedly -published the impact assessment for the changes to skilled worker and care worker visas announced in May.

Impact is estimated between -£2 billion and £-10 billion (central - £10 billion).

Imagine the reaction to allegations that Corbyn had made hissing gas noises to Jewish kids as a schoolboy - and then if he had responded to those allegations by shouting 'Bernard Manning!' at the journalists
The radio silence about Farage from people who are usually supremely vocal about antisemitism is so so telling.

The thing to note is that all the lads were boiling with white hot fury at old Jezza, but they will all at very least sit on their hands for Farage. Because the latter might be a fascist but he’s officer class, and he’ll listen to a lot important people who matter rather than disregarding them.

It makes me both sad and energised having seen how much of the media is either complacent , appeasing or supportive of the hatred of trans people - the cowardly thoughtless cesspool of mediocrity bubbles with their bylines
With so much abuse from cis men still covered up , with so much misogyny rife , with anti trans activists starting to turn towards abortion rights - well done to all the bigots who decided relentless abuse of trans kids was the solution #translives
