It’s genuinely wild that the United States spent decades building an elaborate rules-based international order which de facto cemented its permanent status as the dominant global hegemon, sustained by ideology rather than might, and now is just blowing it all up for literally no reason

It's extremely important for global security that every member of the Trump administration be hanged when this is over
The Prime Minister of Denmark Mette Frederiksen to the United States:

“The Kingdom of Denmark, and thus Greenland, is a member of NATO and is therefore covered by the Alliance’s collective security guarantee.” I “strongly urge the United States to cease its threats.”

What in the Gestapo is going on in Grand Rapids?

Watch this activist get arrested *mid-interview* for speaking out against U.S. action in Venezuela.

‼️How incredibly dangerous

These are kids covered by Medicaid/CHIP—disadvantaged kids

If we don’t have data on vaccine coverage, we can’t identify communities most at risk of harm or death from outbreaks

💀RFK Jr’s anti-vaxx MAHA movement is a death cult

Great reporting by @lizszabo.bsky.social👏
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), run by Oz and his boss, RFK Jr., will no longer require physicians to report vaccination rates.

Instead, they plan to start having doctors report if they’ve discussed “alternative” vaccine schedules.
CMS to stop requiring states to report childhood vaccination levels

The United States Congress has the Constitutional power and the patriotic duty to stop this insanity immediately, for the good of all Conservative and Liberal Americans’ future.
Trump in a single gaggle on Air Force One just threatened:

-- a second strike against Venezuela
-- Cuba
-- Mexico
-- Colombia
-- Iran
-- Greenland (which in turn would be an attack on the EU and Denmark)

Right.

If you want a good explanation of why the American system of government worked well enough for 200 years and then suddenly stopped, it's because Republicans in Congress suddenly started letting their partisan interests COMPLETELY override their institutional interests
a lot of problems wouldn't exist if we had a congress with even an ounce of self interest
Honestly insane they didn't brief the gang of eight until it was underway

I further put forward that we be allowed to be a little bit rude about it. look what the obsession with civility has gotten us. if a person is being hateful or saying something untrue, you should be allowed to get a little bitchy if you need to!
my plan to get this country back on track consists of one bullet point: i propose we stop pretending stupid people arent stupid just because theyre loud and theres a lot of them

Democrats need to grow a f*cking spine.

No more strongly worded letters. It’s time to draft articles of impeachment.

Impeach. Convict. Remove.

"what should be remembered every time a new national security boondoggle like the REAL ID is proposed—is that when our [4th A] rights are eroded, there is no evidence or piece of plastic that will suffice to overcome an officer's "reasonable suspicion" once the government decides you're a target."

DHS says REAL ID, which DHS certifies, is too unreliable to confirm U.S. citizenship
It's the punch line to a bad joke that started 20 years ago when Congress passed the REAL ID Act.

Don't forget folks: allowing yourself a vision of the future you'd want for our country and planet - not the one you'd settle for, not the one you fear, but the future of your dreams - isn't naive, it's a vital cognitive skill. That's how we articulate what we most value. What's worth fighting for.
Instead of whatever this is, we should have a government getting lots of new homes and apartments built, lots of clean energy built, lots of high speed rail and transit and bike lanes built, human rights for everyone, economic & healthcare opportunities for all, & innovation that leads the world.

A nuclear-armed U.S. under full totalitarian control is an existential threat to billions of people. To life on this planet.

It's up to us, U.S. citizens living here in the imperial core, to stop it. Nobody is coming to save us. Not the U.N., not the ICJ. It's us or it's nobody.

the administration wants to frame this (bizarrely) as law enforcement. but if law enforcement conducted a raid for a suspect and killed 40 people, including an unknown number of unarmed civilians, it would be treated as a clear disaster like Waco.
NYT:

At least 40 people were killed in the US attack on Venezuela, including military personnel and civilians.

Gallego is right, and the weak-ass Schumer/Jeffries demands for briefings are inadequate. Sure, ask for a briefing from the crew launching military strikes from a Mar A Lago ballroom while scrolling twitter, whatever.

But what is needed is action. Vote to stop the war. Do it this week.
FOX NEWS: What are your expectations when you get briefings from senior Trump administration officials in the coming days?

GALLEGO: Well, they're just gonna lie

The hack Trump has discovered is that if you escalate endlessly, at some point Democrats will stop escalating their response to you, because they’re scared of acknowledging what you are and what it obligates them to do. At that point you have total freedom to break any rule, do anything you want.
Such a stupid response. Trump is breaking the law. Again. For th 100th time. Schumer is making this sound like a policy difference, thus legitimizing it.

For nonlawyers, it’s worth noting that statements like this have—as a formal matter—important legal effects as a matter of international law. If such statements are *not* made, and in volume, future arguments that Trump’s invasion sets a legal precedent will stand on much firmer legal ground.
Norway’s Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide: "International law is universal and binding for all states. The American intervention in Venezuela is not in accordance with international law."
